From Lafayette to Houma, Lake Charles to Shreveport, oil and gas supports good-paying jobs in every corner of our state.
This industry fuels over 300,000 jobs in Louisiana and contributes billions in state and local taxes. That means better roads, schools, and public services in the communities where we live and work.
When energy is strong, Louisiana’s economy is strong.

It started in 1901 with a well in Jennings, and changed Louisiana forever.
That first discovery launched more than a century of energy leadership, job creation, and innovation across our state.
From early oil fields to today’s advanced refining and carbon capture, Louisiana continues to lead the way.
We’ve led for decades. Let’s keep leading.

Each year, Louisiana leaders, job creators, and government representatives at the local, parish and state-level join our Federal partners and Congressional delegation in Washington, DC to strengthen relationships, discuss how we can work together to lift up our state, and show the rest of country the value of investing in Louisiana. Washington Mardi Gras has become one of the most productive weeks on the calendar in facilitating new partnerships and creating more opportunities that will benefit Louisiana families. The Louisiana Mid-Continent Oil and Gas Association is honored to work with the @LAChemAssoc each year to help bring these leaders together to discuss how Louisiana's oil and gas industry can deliver a better future for our state and country.

When we produce energy, we also help protect the places we call home.
