Trying to break the test track record for the longest train @modelrailclub at Young MRC this morning. 9 engines + 29 coaches. Great to see the youngster's working together - wish I could bottle their energy & enthusiasm.

At least it's in a reasonably large scale. If it were smaller I'd be even more impressed.
Rich. I'll do it Dreckly. ME/CFS@Shadowc40481222

As I can't be at the NEC with @ModelRailClub, thought I'd do some modelling. Sometimes it's quicker & easier to scratchbuild than clean up white metal castings. If it's too bad on painting there will be a liberal application of Somme mud!!

@servicerotties Sadly no Rufus this Christmas either - I'm sure that he and Kuno are heavenly mates. I haven't tried the costume on Percy yet. I'll have catch him first!!!!

Admin Post:
5 years ago we had our first holiday season living in the city of Edmonton. I had both legs amputated the year before and finally had found a wheelchair accessible place to rent so I could be closer to medical resources. A stranger from Twitter found me a free Christmas tree and delivered it. Another brought me some decorations they no longer needed. And a few brought me cookies and dog treats.
There were strict Covid restrictions in place and many people were struggling with spending Christmas alone. I was still struggling with the fact that I couldn't get into anyone's house. It wasn't just Christmas alone. It was always alone. Just me and the dogs. So we decided to make it the most ridiculously pawsome Christmas ever and share it online.
And somehow our little Twitter account connected with a few of you, and we shared photos and videos of Kuno doing great stuff. We raised over $1200 dollars for local charities with our first charity Advent countdow. And Christmas Eve I posted a thread with a bedtime story I wrote called Moe Knows, about a rescued Pitbull. That was how #ChristmasWithKuno started. Inspired by the kindness of some strangers and a way to not feel totally alone.
It got bigger in 2021, and 2022, and in 2023 it became Christmas with Kuno and Chesnyy too. I had no way of knowing 2024 would be his last ridiculously pawsome Christmas. Looking back, each of these holiday seasons were made special because of the dogs. Instead of just watching Hallmark movies and feeling sorry for myself, I had dogs holding tubes of icing in their mouth so I could video gingerbread decorating, and I had them doing all sorts of festive crafts. Sometimes it would take hours just to set up the scene. Moving things around in a wheelchair is not easy. But it made my heart feel good to end up with a video of my dog making candles or baking treats to share with his human. And you guys seemed to enjoy them and that made me feel even better.
It's our first Christmas with Kuno without Kuno, but I just know he'd fully expect me to unpack the collection of antlers, make a video of Chesnyy decorating the tree and building a gingerbread house. And we'll still do our charity Advent countdown and maybe even have Chesnyy drop off some donations to local places. And we're even going to get some new decorations this year. Some of you have sent us some Christmas ornaments and those are so special to me. The lights on the tree from year one quit working so a follower sent us a new one a couple of years ago. And many of the dollarstore ornaments we hung on the first tree have been replaced with beautiful, funny, or whimsical decorations some of you sent. I love the pickle, the cow, the Connor McJesus, and the Bacon and Burger ornaments.
So if you're reading this and you're a stranger on the Interwoof, hi! I'm Marla, a disabled woman in Canada with a really awesome Rottweiler and we're going to make this the most ridiculously pawsome Christmas ever! And you're welcome to join us. And if you've been around for awhile, then you should already have your antlers ready, because holy fluffnuggets, we're going to make a ridiculously pawsome Christmas Kuno would be proud of.
So get ready to share some love, laughter, and life. It's going to be a great #ChristmasWithKuno's Spirit!

@AdamWatkinson1 Doing this little lot in 4mm scale (and the seagulls) nearly had the opposite effect.

English

@AdamWatkinson1 That would certainly get you practising your pet hate of figure painting.......depending on how long the queue is, you might get to like it.
English

@AdamWatkinson1 Looking really good Adam. The vest guy reminds me of Matt Smith - so where's the Tardis? - now there's an idea for a future build.
English

@ModelRailClub @BRMmagazine It's looking really good guys....reminds me of holidays last summer in that area. Truly realistic. Hope you have a great exhibition at the NEC.

@AdamWatkinson1 This is great for keeping brushes clean. Just a few drops to get rid of the build up in the brush base to keep the point. Not nice to the skin....and don't lick to a point afterwards - done it once - never again........!

English

@AdamWatkinson1 Ooh lovely point. Look after it. I go into mourning when my 'go-to' paintbrushes get past their prime, although I will always find another use for them...dry brushing, stippling etc. Even using the ferrules to mark up cobbles in Das when they've lost their hair.

The calm before 2x 20+ young railway modellers and their family descend for sessions at Young MRC. @ModelRailClub Give it half an hour and it will be full and LOUD!!!

English

@AdamWatkinson1 Thanks Adam. I'm sure there will be tips we can take from this, plus the historical element too. What's not to like and be inspired by 👍

Lots of interest @ModelRailClub this evening. Dark and moody outside, but always fine in here.

@Lablass2 @ModelRailClub High Wycombe juniors are at GETS. It is possible to encourage and support junior modelling enthusiasts. It just needs to be done properly. The hobby owes them that
