This is a deliberate strategy as a result of the obvious fact that 99.99% of people don't want to eat whole insects, despite all the "superfood" propaganda and billions of dollars of investment. So they grind them up and add them as powder to protein bars and pet food.

I went to buy a protein bar before my flight from Brussels. When I went to read the ingredient list of this protein bar, that looked very cute and healthy, I saw it had “cricket powder”. I couldn’t believe my eyes. They really want us to eat the bugs. I am grossed out.
