Im extremely happy to see @thirumaofficial Thirumavlan sir getting a prominent cabinet berth in the present government. I come from a Harijan colony in Srirampuram, Bangalore. When I was young, i used to walk to my schools, on the sidewalls I used to see a wall painting of a man with a big moustache trying to built pride among Dalits. That was Thirumavlan sir. Dalits live under constant fear. His presence gave them the strength. When I was in Chennai, I always wanted to meet the great man. When I wrote my book "The Inspiring Ambedkar", I met sir and handed over a copy to him and I really admired his sincerity to the Dalit cause. Many say he had only one or two seats. But the real fact is that a large section of Dalit votes transferred to DMK because of VCK and Congress. But they were kept out of decision making posts. Even if they were given they were given Adidravidar department and nothing more. Inspite of this, he never got even a position. Leave alone a house or a car. Sometimes, we feel bad to say that our ministers are treated like garbage in various governments. They Struggle, They Suffer...But they wait for their turn. When I see the way Thirumavlanji has survived the entire battle, that itself is a great story. Today is his day. He is a strong fighter and his rise will not be liked by many other dominant castes in Tamilnadu. There are literal street wars happening in Tamilnadu every where trying to instil fear among Dalits. Police atrocities against Dalits are on the rise. Him being in the cabinet is great for the entire community. The Dalit Pride in Tamilnadu is restored. Im happy that Actor Vijay Garu has restored the lost Dalit pride in the state. I wish him the best for a successful 5 years tenure.
