Fair to say that Liverpool has a gem in their hands. He will surely create his legacy here and make that left-hand side his, for a long long time. I highly rate RIO NGUMOHA.

Jamie Carragher, via Sky Sports: The result is absolutely huge for Liverpool when you consider the Chelsea result yesterday. When that board went up for 11 minutes, I'd have shook with anyone and taken a point from a Liverpool point of view. Liverpool were a small team towards the end of that game and I was fearful of set-pieces. When you think of how Liverpool have won this game - two of the absolute legends of the club have done it. They won't be here much longer. Salah and probably Van Dijk in 12 months' time. Two of the absolute greats. Salah has done it again against Liverpool's biggest rivals, as he always does. Against Everton or Man Utd, you can always rely upon him.

On added boost of winning first derby at Hill Dickinson: "Of course. We all know it's a special occasion, the first derby in their new stadium, you know it is one for history and to beat them for the second time this year - we haven't had a lot of positive things happen for us this season, we've usually conceded late. "To score late, you could see the reaction of our players to the fans and the fans to our players. That tells you everything about how important this game is for us."

On the slow start: "The start of a game is both teams go all in and fight then after 15-20 minutes the game calms down a bit and you can talk more about tactics or how you want to position yourself on the pitch. "But the first 20 minutes is just running, facing duels, pressing on both sides - a bit of a chaos game usually in the Premier League, especially in a derby. "When things settle down you could see more and more we could find the players we wanted to play, especially in the second half."

On experience in the side: "There were multiple factors going in but that was one of them. From the start, we were not impressed, they were better in the first 10-15 minutes but we stood our ground. "We got better and better in the game. The moment they scored for 1-1 was the moment I expected it the least because we started the second half well. Then towards the end we kept on pushing, were close a few times, and then scoring a goal you would expect Everton to score - a set piece - is nice for us."

Arne Slot, speaking to BBC Match of the Day: "What else would you expect when you play here? It was always going to be a real battle. "My players did what I was hoping they'd do, what I expected they'd do and give Everton a big fight. In the end, scoring is a joy to see because our away fans were brilliant today. A good day for the red side of Liverpool."

On just having a few games left as a Liverpool player: “No but I wish I just keep scoring and help the team to achieve Champions League this season. Hopefully I say farewell in the right way."

Mohamed Salah, speaking to Sky Sports, on scoring in his last Merseyside derby: "It feels great. The most important thing was to help the team to settle down and feel more confident. We knew before the game it was going to be tricky, difficult, and I’m glad we were able to win it."

Pat Nevin: Virgil van Dijk had a very good game today. It's van Dijk again, it's Mo Salah again and they have broken Everton hearts. That header. I think, has given Liverpool Champions League football for next season. I cannot see them losing it from here.

On Mohamed Salah: "There will be a lot of words coming out of my mouth in the next couple of weeks about him. But he's so important for us, on and off the pitch. "The appreciation sometimes come when players are gone but we appreciate him so much. He's an outstanding team-mate to have, we've been through everything together, high and lows. He will still be important for the last five games we have to play. "It will be emotional for him and his family for sure but us as well because he means a lot to me, to the team and the fans, of course. But first, we still have a job to do. He knows it, that's the main focus."

On big boost to top-five hopes: "100%. We've got five more games left against teams that are also fighting for the Champions League spots. Every game is a big one. Like I said, we are very disappointed as whole for the season that we're having because of the quality we have. It's below standards. "But we have to keep fighting, keep going and make the best out of this poor season we're having. That's the reality, onto the next. Today was a good three points and next up is Crystal Palace at home, who we couldn't beat for many, many games before."

Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk, speaking to Sky Sports, on comparisons to his debut winner against Everton: "Nothing like that, the debut goal was the perfect night for me personally. "But today was massive in the situation that we are, in hunt for the Champions League spots. That is definitely not Liverpool-worthy, in my opinion, but it is the reality and it was important we got the win. I'm glad we did."
