Everything Liverpool. YNWA A fan since 90s

On the slow start: "The start of a game is both teams go all in and fight then after 15-20 minutes the game calms down a bit and you can talk more about tactics or how you want to position yourself on the pitch. "But the first 20 minutes is just running, facing duels, pressing on both sides - a bit of a chaos game usually in the Premier League, especially in a derby. "When things settle down you could see more and more we could find the players we wanted to play, especially in the second half."

On experience in the side: "There were multiple factors going in but that was one of them. From the start, we were not impressed, they were better in the first 10-15 minutes but we stood our ground. "We got better and better in the game. The moment they scored for 1-1 was the moment I expected it the least because we started the second half well. Then towards the end we kept on pushing, were close a few times, and then scoring a goal you would expect Everton to score - a set piece - is nice for us."

Arne Slot, speaking to BBC Match of the Day: "What else would you expect when you play here? It was always going to be a real battle. "My players did what I was hoping they'd do, what I expected they'd do and give Everton a big fight. In the end, scoring is a joy to see because our away fans were brilliant today. A good day for the red side of Liverpool."

Mohamed Salah, speaking to Sky Sports, on scoring in his last Merseyside derby: "It feels great. The most important thing was to help the team to settle down and feel more confident. We knew before the game it was going to be tricky, difficult, and I’m glad we were able to win it."

On big boost to top-five hopes: "100%. We've got five more games left against teams that are also fighting for the Champions League spots. Every game is a big one. Like I said, we are very disappointed as whole for the season that we're having because of the quality we have. It's below standards. "But we have to keep fighting, keep going and make the best out of this poor season we're having. That's the reality, onto the next. Today was a good three points and next up is Crystal Palace at home, who we couldn't beat for many, many games before."

Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk, speaking to Sky Sports, on comparisons to his debut winner against Everton: "Nothing like that, the debut goal was the perfect night for me personally. "But today was massive in the situation that we are, in hunt for the Champions League spots. That is definitely not Liverpool-worthy, in my opinion, but it is the reality and it was important we got the win. I'm glad we did."
