You know what I am convinced if the year ends in 1 or 8 and there is a best on best tournament Canada must win the World Jrs to secure Gold in the best on best. Conversely if the year of a best on best tournament does NOT end in a 1 or an 8 Canada MUST lose the World Jrs.

The only year to break the trend of both not ending in 1 and having Canada loses both the World Jrs and a best on best Tournament is 1998. Oh and I guess you could count the IIHF 2005 tournament as best on best due to the lockout where Canada lost...but won World Jr Gold.
