Chaya Project Update! After sharing so many stories from Zimbabwe, we’re excited to now see the Chaya Project growing in Zambia as well. Our recent visit with the School Club Zambia (SCZ) team highlighted the incredible progress being made across participating schools. During school visits, the team observed thriving chaya gardens, harvested leaves for upcoming trainings, and identified simple organic solutions to manage a small number of aphids. The following day, 23 teachers and farmers from five schools participated in a hands-on chaya training covering nutrition, planting, harvesting, cooking, and the many benefits of this climate-smart crop. Participants prepared and tasted recipes including beef stew, chaya with crushed nuts, and chaya with tomato and onion, with many sharing how much they enjoyed the flavor and planned to add chaya to both home diets and school feeding programs. With training materials now distributed to six schools in Zambia, the momentum continues to grow in Sub-Saharan Africa. April reminded us of something powerful. When people come together with purpose, impact multiplies. During National Volunteer Month, 1,492 volunteers across 15 companies and 10 states showed up through MATTERbox Packing Events. They packed. They served. They turned compassion into action. And because of them, 17,560 people were impacted. That is more than a number. It is a child receiving a nourishing snack. It is a family feeling seen. It is a company culture choosing generosity. Gerald Kaseke’s story is about more than personal success. It is about what happens when someone is empowered, then turns around and helps uplift their community from within. Gerald began as a kitchen porter at Zambezi Boutique before spending time around the MATTER Education program, where he discovered a passion for coding. He proved himself within 3-4 months, and excelled as part of Cohort 2. That journey led to an internship with Mains’l and eventually full-time employment. Since then, his curiosity, initiative, and appetite for learning have led him into a Workspace Collaboration Specialist role. Today, he supports all Mains'l Services employees with SharePoint sites and features, creates surveys and project boards, and continues growing his expertise in tools like Power Automate and Power Apps. But Gerald’s impact does not stop there. He is also one of the MCRI graduates collaborating to build the MCRI Hub, set to soft-launch in May, helping create something that can open doors for others coming behind him. As Gerald shared: “I’m proud of our employers. It’s something really nice that they see potential that some of us don’t even see. And they are giving back to this community, trying to help uplift it, so that we can then take it a step further.” That is exactly what Gerald is doing. Today is Global Recycling Day ♻️ a reminder that what we discard still has value. Through MATTER 360, we work with hospitals and clinics to collect surplus medical supplies and equipment 🏥, repurpose what can still save lives ❤️‍🩹, and responsibly recycle what can’t. In 2025 alone, we diverted more than 7.7 million pounds of medical surplus from landfills 🌎. Since 2019, that work has redirected over 32 million pounds of resources to communities around the world. Chaya Project Update! From planting at Chimbombo Primary School to a major workshop in Sidinda Ward, the Chaya program continues to grow. During a recent Insight Trip, travelers helped plant the first 30 of 200 trees at Chimbombo, while Ruth and Silent trained local leaders and community women to sustain the project long-term. As part of our three-year goal, we’ve now trained 12,595 students and farmers, served 13,175 meals, engaged 615 partners, and planted 63 orchards. On February 24, 2026, more than 500 students, teachers, and farmers joined a hands-on Chaya Workshop in Sidinda Ward, where over 90% left knowing how to grow and use Chaya safely, and everyone went home with cuttings to plant. Together, these milestones reflect more than growth in numbers. They show growing knowledge, stronger community ownership, and lasting impact. With every tree planted, every training held, and every cutting shared, more families and schools are gaining the tools to improve nutrition and build resilience for the future. #youmatter #MATTERnation

Students at the MATTER Career Readiness Institution finished their latest certification ahead of schedule with a 96% class average—and record perfect scores. Every graduate is stepping into an apprenticeship or career pathway, with four starting apprenticeships with Jamf engineering teams by the end of March. 🌿 Chaya is taking root in the next generation. At Sacred Heart Mission School, 440 students, 15 teachers, and 23 farmers learned, planted, and tasted Chaya together—then committed to making it part of daily life. CHAYA UPDATE 185 students, 8 teachers, and 20 community members at Batoka Primary School came together for Chaya nutrition training. Students learned about the nutritional benefits of Chaya and how to incorporate it into their daily meals. Teachers and community members explored practical ways to use Chaya to promote healthy eating habits at school and at home. The takeaway was simple and powerful: Chaya belongs in school meals, school gardens, and ongoing nutrition education. By integrating Chaya into daily feeding programs and establishing sustainable Chaya plots, students gain essential nutrients—supporting their health, well-being, and long-term food security. Today is International Day of Women and Girls in Science, and we’re highlighting Tendai’s story to show what’s possible when opportunity, access, and determination align. After completing the MATTER Career Readiness Institute, Tendai is now a software engineer at @JamfSoftware, using her skills to support her family and build a future once thought out of reach. Here’s what moved in January: 📚 Education is expanding in Victoria Falls. Construction is underway to double the MATTER Career Readiness Institute, from 25 to 50 students, so more young people can build real job skills and real opportunity. 🌿 Chaya is getting smarter (and stronger). The Chidobe Women’s Cooperative started 320 Chaya seedlings in plastic bags to protect them from termites, making it easier for schools to grow gardens and for kids to get nutritious greens.
