Longtime users are frustrated with X because it no longer works the way it used to. Back in the early days of Twitter, your reach was simple and direct. If you had 5,000 or 10,000,20,000 followers, your posts were delivered to them in real time. It was a true chronological feed—your tweets showed up in the order you posted them, and your audience actually saw your content. The “old” Twitter (pre-2016) was built around that real-time experience. Your voice reached the people who chose to follow you, without interference. Today, that’s no longer the case. X relies on an algorithm-driven, engagement-based feed, meaning even your own followers may never see your posts unless the system decides to prioritize them. That shift—from a guaranteed audience to an unpredictable algorithm—is why so many longtime users feel frustrated and disconnected.

@ArtMusicCinema I haven’t heard that term in years. That used to be heard on the job all the time. 😂😂

@Marcute22 We traded reliable networks we owned for unreliable ones we rent. Early on it was 1:1 reach. Then they waited until we were hooked, flipped the algorithm, and started charging tolls on access to our own audience.

Yes, sir, that or a fast busy. I used to know the ratio it was engineered for—something like one out of every 6–8 people with a phone could use it at the same time. It depended on the size of the Central Office, that exchange, the area code the call originated from, and where it was going.

@Marcute22 @knowledge_shark "All circuits are busy now. Please try again later." I'm old enough to remember getting that message on Thanksgiving and Mother's Day.

@Silly2Say I agree. God has given me the strength through all of it. My wife was ill for 10 years. I did things I wouldn’t have been able to do in years past. I had a wonderful support system around me and stood on the promises of God.

I’m so sorry for your losses. Going through similar right now. Being close to God helps ease the pain and knowing they left before the world gets more out of hand also comforts me. Also look up the poem, Gone From My Sight as well as the children’s book “Water Bugs and Dragonflies”. They are also comforting.

I’m at a loss for words today. I’d like to say this more eloquently: my mom passed away and went to her heavenly home yesterday, exactly five weeks after we lost my wife. I’m doing okay, but my sister is struggling—she’s lost her best friend (my wife) and her mom in such a short time.RIP. 1931-2026

@Marcute22 Good points! ☝🏻 Exactly the reasons why I am not on X much these days. Life's way too short to worry about the flawed algorithm. @elonmusk 🤔

@sabrafan76623 @Marcute22 That’s why I didn’t buy a blue check, I knew they still would stop me from having any reach. Very frustrating.

@Marcute22 That's exactly wat killed Facebook. You could have a page wit 1m followers but 1% of them could see your post unless you pay for reach

@Cjayson4444 I appreciate that. I like to interact and respond to posts. Due to circumstances I’m unable to do that today. I will make a brief post explaining why.

Good Thursday. 🔆 Happy Friday Eve! It’s National Backyard Day and National Poultry Day. It's confirmed. 100% of backyard chickens are MAGA and support president.trump. They want the SAVE Act passed too! Coffee is fully committed. ☕🇺🇸 Thank you for your chickens @DeliaTX! Check out Delia's pinned video and tell her Eliza sent you. 😃

Good Wednesday. 🔆 Happy Hump Day! It’s also National Awkward Moments Day. Why put a pull handle on a push door? It’s always an awkward moment. Coffee doesn’t help with that one. ☕ Hope you had a fabulous St Patrick’s Day. 💚💜

@DB09215406 I’m of an age where I’ll never see anything like it again. They want us divided, as it makes us easier to control.

Could we go back to the old ways, even if it were possible today? Does it make sense a decade later? Pros & cons switching back: Pros - True real-time flow: no important replies buried - Decreased manipulation: No ragebait amplification - Fair & authentic: Every follow = visibility - Less polarizing: Studies show chrono feeds reduce opinion shift - Simpler & transparent: No black-box, just what happened, in order Cons - Extreme firehose: 500M+ posts/day means you miss 80-95% of content - Discovery issues: New creators & topics almost invisible - Virality & creator economy tanks: Impressions stable but lower - Platform growth hit: Lower engagement, time spent - Requires adaptation: Heavy Lists/muting or fewer follows needed to not drown Also, one could use lists as a workaround if chronological order for favorite accounts is a priority. Not ideal but possible.
