Evening! I'm in my 3rd council meeting in Stafford of the day but it's an historic one as it's the first @Staffordbc cabinet under the council's new Labour administration. It's an all-new lineup compared to the one I've seen round the table for the past 17 years or so #LDReporter

There is a former cabinet member - @MarkWinnington in the public seating area though, alongside Conservative colleague @Eccleshallpeter. New cabinet members are mix of Labour members and Stafford Borough Independents inc @JillHood8 and @RobKenney2

@Staffordbc @CannockChaseDC The application has been recommended for approval by planning officers but called in by Cllr @MarkWinnington because of "concerns about change of use, effect on streetscene and current usage of the site"

A resident has spoken to object to the plans (and received a round of applause from the public seating area) and @MarkWinnington has also raised concerns. There is no speaker here tonight to speak in support of the application however

One of the issues raised is erection of a fence at the site - and it is being questioned whether the fence is permitted development or unauthorised development. Cllr @MarkWinnington has said the application should be rejected - and Cllr Frances Beatty has proposed rejection
