I think the airdrop meta is just entirely broken. When I got the Uniswap airdrop I had 0 expectations, I had used it because it was useful and awesome and one day... poof, and it was a surprise and I felt more aligned with the protocol. I didn't then go back and use Uniswap 1000x more in the hopes that they would give me more free tokens, I had no expectations before, and none after. We were super super aligned with community back in 2022 before airdrop was a major meta to the point we even got our investors to agree to really crazy terms because we knew we needed to reward the people who were like day 1 supporters, super active, early devs, interested in the tech, our early discord was sick a f. Loved everybody x.com/alanestuver/st… After this though things shifted heavily, we had 0 plans to do an airdrop, like 0, had never mentioned it ever, had never spoken about it, and then one day in 2023 all of a sudden after a couple of other huge airdrops people started to speculate heavily. We had been live for 1 year already and had only done 1M messages and then all of a sudden we were doing almost 1M messages per day, it was insane. When Stargate had launched there was an auction day 1, 100% went to protocol owned liquidity, and none of this was ever a question. The pressure after that became like super super insane, expectations became massive, every airdrop threadooor saying we'll be the largest ever and everyone getting these crazy expectations and even more people started to pile on and started farming. We still had the intention to just say nothing and basically we cannot control the market but it was clear peak hysteria end of 2023 with WEN WEN WEN every day and we announced we'll do distribution in H1, 2024. After it was official the question was -- what actually makes the best distribution (From the lens of the protocol). It's clear that most of the people doing something just for the expectation of getting more of something else is very unlikely to be a long term durable user and there is almost 0 alignment with mercenaries. We were clear we wanted to be hyper dev focused (devs are what got us here, and what will be the future of the protocol) and we wanted to max alignment. Giving people something where their only thought is "when can I dump this" just feels like a terrible way to forge any sort of protocol alignment. It gets insta dumped, others who can afford to buy consolidate it and the supply changes from any sort of active user with aligned interest to largely people with some sort of monetary interest. Proof of donation was supposed to make people stop and think for 2 seconds, literally, pennies of donation per and to an amazing group who actually needs the support and all of us have benefited a TON from. Stop and think, make the commitment to donate to an awesome cause, and then hopefully have more alignment and shared value with the same things that we do -- immutable, permissionless, censorship-resistant infrastructure. I know it got lost in a lot of the FUD for the moment but watch the launch video, that's a true story and not one we've ever told anyone. (receipts here: etherscan.io/tx/0x0379bbca6…) From day 1, years ago, we set out to build a new and better internet, one that built with the values of the space, and one that was publicly owned and controlled by noone. I care about what happens on a 5-10 year time horizon not how the current expectations that other people set for us are divergent. We care about what we're building, we went wide and gave a lot of people the opportunity to have alignment, and we focused on giving developers the ability to decide. I love this space, I've been here for well over a decade now and will be here for a decade more. We care deeply about what we're building, and while I prefer everybody loves LayerZero now -- I'm confident they will love it eventually. It's everything we believe in and we'll be building it for a long time and supporting the best developers in any way we can. Thanks for the question, glad I got to vent a bit ❤️

@slavikinvestor Yup, We wrote yesterday all final compliance checks are happening today and will not be included in final TGE. People will have (slightly) higher allos than checker tomorrow once all are removed + additional flagged deployer wallets + remaining sybil that slipped through in RFP

🚨Potential exploit in LayerZero token distribution🚨 Hey Bryan @PrimordialAA I'm writing to bring to your attention a potential Stargate exploit in the token distribution process. I've identified a wallet that has made 4 transactions and has received 564 tokens. According to Dune Analytics (dune.com/grayguest/laye…) this wallet has spent $1665 in fees. However, I believe this is inaccurate. Wallet — layerzero.foundation/rewind/0x5aed1… Abuse: I've further investigated this wallet using the rewind tool and discovered that the user was abusing the "Gas on destination" feature. They were entering amounts of 0.1-0.3 ETH, which the system was incorrectly counting as gas fees. This inflated their reported gas expenses and resulted in an unfair increase in their token allocation. I believe there may be other wallets using this same exploit. I suggest reviewing these cases and considering increasing the allocation for other users who have not engaged in this behavior. @SybilHorror6

Extremely bearish on Layerzero airdrop if the models I’ve seen @PrimordialAA post are close to what will be the official criteria. So many people who have used the network organically will be ineligible because they didn’t spam tx…. What normal person spends $1000 in fees as an example.
