Even within the INDI bloc, which has 234 MPs in Lok Sabha and 75 in Rajya Sabha (total 309), not everyone has signed. Only 193 did. So the question is simple: Where have the remaining INDI MPs vanished? Are they also not convinced by Congress’s latest political drama? They can keep trying, but with these numbers, they can’t even remove a chaprasi, forget impeaching the Chief Election Commissioner.

The goal is simple and important: make sure that only eligible Indian citizens get to vote. A clean electoral roll is the foundation of any fair election. With important Assembly elections starting very soon in five states and a Union Territory, the timing of this attack on the CEC looks suspicious. Polling is scheduled for April 9 in Assam, Kerala, and Puducherry, April 23 in Tamil Nadu, and April 23 and 29 in West Bengal, with counting on May 4. You cannot try to remove the referee in the middle of the match just because the process is bringing greater transparency. Clean voter lists protect democracy. Institutions like the Election Commission must be allowed to work without constant political pressure.

You can see her from a couple of years ago fighting with the Modi govt to bring the bill come what may. Why oppose a special session meant to debate and pass the Bill? Let’s be honest - the real issue isn’t the Bill, it’s the timing. From demanding implementation to questioning it to opposing the session - that’s not consistency, that’s getting caught off guard.
