I will never stop saying it. North Korea will sit center stage in the final scene of the movie we're watching. Trump will come in to deescalate at the last minute, when it's thought to be too late. It's all a big set up.

🇰🇵🇮🇱 Kim Jong in has reportedly instructed North Korean government officials to provide support to Palestine, including potential weapons shipments to Hamas. 🚨 North Korea does NOT recognize a state of Israel.

@FyneMarket @InsideLucysHead They must. You don't have a country if you end up an amalgamation of different and conflicting cultures. That's how a country rots from the inside out. Italians would literally change their surnames to fit in in the early 1900s, there has to be a desire to assimilate.

@InsideLucysHead Humour aside, this highlights that identity is not something you can simply rename on the surface. Names carry culture, family, and meaning, and those don’t disappear just because someone moves to a different country.

Tough to be Irish... "What's your name?" asked the teacher. "Mohammad," he replied. "You're in Ireland now," replied the teacher, "So from now on you will be known as Mike. Mohammad returned home after school. "How was your day, Mohammad?" his mother asked. "My name is not Mohammad. I'm in Ireland, and now my name is Mike”. "Are you ashamed of your name? Are you trying to dishonour your parents, your heritage, your religion? Shame on you!" And his mother beat the shit out of him. Then she called his father, who beat the shit out of him again. The next day, Mohammad returned to school. The teacher saw all of his fresh bruises. "What happened to you, Mike?" she asked. "Well, shortly after becoming an Irishman, I was attacked by two f00king Arabs."

@PeakHobby I agree, and don't see interest in Pokemon waning anytime soon. But if I had to guess, I'd say it would be the crypto bros who transitioned into TCG collecting that will cause a downturn in prices. Something will hit the scene and skyrocket early and they'll chase that profit.

@MemoryHoId Pokemon is doing well with addressing any fatigue, I don’t think it will be because of that. A new shiny investment? Difficult to image that

Pokémon market top won’t come from internal factors such as increased print runs, celebrity hype, price increases, post 30th anniversary disinterest, etc. It’ll be driven by a combo of macro shocks: sudden economic downturn and job loss, extreme credit tightening, global conflict escalation, etc How will this top end? Thank you for listening to my PEAK Talk

@Informerhub @ScottThuman He's right if you're talking about countries people ACTUALLY flock to, it's really just the US and Canada.

The court sketches of President Trump sitting in at the Supreme Court today as justices weighed his actions to limit 'birthright citizenship'. Trump is the first sitting President to attend proceedings. He stayed just about an hour and left during the defense's arguments. After court adjourned, Trump posted on Truth Social: “We are the only Country in the World STUPID enough to allow ‘Birthright’ Citizenship!” Actually, about three dozen countries, nearly all of them in the Americas, guarantee citizenship to children born on their territory, per Associated Press.

@ants21597 @LangmanVince x.com/i/status/20379… Second full circle moment. With a bonus goalpost adjustment! First you said "if anyone was looking out for the TSA....", now you concede Trump did, but not fast enough? Just say "Thank you, President Trump, for getting paychecks to TSA agents".

@ants21597 @LangmanVince What matters is that the problem needs to be fixed. Looking back for blame doesn't help us moving forward.

The House just gave that week kneed Senate Leader John Thune the giant middle finger by passing an 8 week funding bill that includes $5 billion for ICE and border patrol that the Senate tried to remove! Hat Tip to Speaker Johnson!

@ants21597 @LangmanVince The "anyone" in your comment must not include Trump, who signed an EO specifically looking out for TSA while Congress fumbles the legislation.

@MemoryHoId @LangmanVince If anyone was actually looking out for TSA they would have done a completely stand alone funding bill for TSA only.

@MemoryHoId @LangmanVince I thought it was Bidens open border policy that got us where we are now. Somehow Clinton and Obama managed higher deportation numbers with much lower funds.

@LangmanVince Please explain further. OBBBA already includes historic levels of border security funding with approximately $191B allocated to DHS through 2029, bypassing annual budget approvals. Includes $75B for ICE $65B for CBP $46.5B for border walls

@P058999081190 @SamaHoole Hard to describe. It's a net loss in slow motion, slow enough to not see the deficiencies, and the positives are more immediate. The food doesn't need to be hunted, you grow it and the food just sits there. Less work on the front end, and the negatives aren't immediate enough.

@SamaHoole I often hear that farmers are small, unhealthy compared to animal herders. So why do so many populations keep choosing to farm if it’s just a net loss in every way?

When Belgian colonists arrived in Rwanda in the 19th century, they needed a way to sort the population for census and administrative purposes. Their classification system: if you owned more than ten cows and stood over six feet tall, you were Tutsi. If not, Hutu. The Tutsi were traditionally pastoralists. Cattle, milk, blood, butter, occasional meat. Minimal grain. They looked down on farming. The Hutu farmed grain. The colonists had, quite accidentally, documented in bureaucratic form what nutritional science would spend the next century refusing to say plainly: The people who ate animal food were taller than the people who ate grain. Consistently enough to use it as a sorting mechanism. Visibly enough to see from a distance. The height gap between pastoral and agricultural populations in the same region wasn't a statistical curiosity. It was a physical fact obvious enough to organise a colonial census around. Dietary guidelines arrived later with the opposite recommendation.
