METLEN Energy & Metals announced the launch of its third strategic transformation, entering the next phase of its evolution: The Third Era – Progress in Motion. Building on two successful transformations and a solid financial foundation, METLEN sets its sights on doubling its scale, as presented during the Capital Markets Day in London last April. ΜΕΤLEN signed a 10-year Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with ENGIE, a leading energy transition utility. Under the PPA, METLEN will supply solar generated power from six sites located in the United Kingdom. The power capacity of the solar portfolio, covered in the agreement, totals 235 MW, providing ENGIE with over 233 GWh of clean electricity annually. These volumes will help avoid more than 52,000 tonnes of CO₂ emissions each year, contributing meaningfully to the UK’s decarbonisation goals. The projects are developed and executed entirely by METLEN’s M Renewables segment, one of the top contractors in the UK for solar and storage projects. The majority of the sites are expected to be fully commissioned by the end of 2025. On 15–16 October, METLEN Energy & Metals took part as a Silver Partner in Energyear Italia 2025, one of the most prominent renewable energy events, held in Milan. Our two-day presence included a dedicated desk and active participation in networking sessions and discussions with key players across the sector. Annalisa Liotine, Regional Head of Development for Italy & Eastern Europe, spoke on the panel “Unlocking Storage Potential: Business Models, Profitability & Market Expansion Strategies”, sharing METLEN’s strategic perspective on storage and growth opportunities in the region. The event provided a valuable opportunity to reinforce METLEN’s positioning in the energy transition across Italy and Eastern Europe, engage with leading stakeholders and foster new business opportunities.

METLEN has achieved key milestones with the successful completion of the Gas Turbine First Fire and Base Load operation at Hirwaun Power Station, which is one of the three new open-cycle gas turbine (OCGT) power stations it is constructing in the UK for Drax Group. Hirwaun Power Station, together with the two other OCGT projects that are going to be delivered by METLEN for Drax, will be providing reliable electricity during periods of high demand, and when renewable sources such as wind and solar are not producing, ensuring a stable electricity supply for homes and businesses. A new strategic partnership marks a milestone for Greece’s energy sector. METLEN and Karatzis Group are joining forces to develop a 330MW / 790MWh Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) in Thessaly, the largest standalone energy storage facility ever initiated in Greece and one of the largest in Europe. Through a joint investment scheme (49% METLEN – 51% Karatzi Group), the project expands on the companies’ existing 262MW portfolio of photovoltaic plants already under development in the same region, further accelerating the country’s transition to clean and efficient energy. With a total investment of €170 million, to be completed by Q2 2026 and without public subsidies or tax incentives, this initiative reflects the shared commitment of both partners to sustainable growth with real added value.

With an acceptance rate of 90.16%, we successfully completed the Voluntary Share Exchange Offer for the acquisition of the ordinary registered shares of METLEN Energy & Metals S.A. by METLEN PLC. This milestone marks a decisive step for our future, strengthening our position in the international energy and metals sector and reaffirming the investment community’s confidence in our vision and strategy. The trading of the new METLEN PLC shares is expected to commence on August 4, 2025, on both the Athens Exchange and the London Stock Exchange. We’re pleased to share that METLEN has secured two new Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) contracts in the UK, with a total value of £34.8 million. These new agreements mark another important step in our commitment to supporting the UK’s energy transition and expanding our renewable energy footprint across the region. The projects include: ✅A co-located photovoltaic (PV) park and Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) in Bramley, Hampshire, delivering a combined capacity of 115 MW for Cero Generation, a leading clean energy developer. ✅ For the contract with AMPYR Energy Solar Europe, METLEN will construct an 18 MW BESS project in Scruton, North Yorkshire, with a total storage capacity of 49 MWh. With a growing presence in the UK and Ireland, METLEN continues to be a trusted partner for the delivery of technically advanced, sustainable energy infrastructure. ✅Our local portfolio now includes 93 renewable energy projects, either completed or under development, comprising 65 solar PV sites (1.82 GW) and 28 BESS installations (1.31 GWh). At the 29th Annual Government Roundtable by @TheEconomist , Mario Draghi and Evangelos Mytilineos, Chairman & CEO of Metlen, discussed the future of Europe, focusing on the continent’s competitiveness. Europe can no longer rely on "1950s-era formulas." The new geopolitical reality calls for a radical transformation — from a soft power to a more decisive and strategically autonomous force, with a stronger role in defense, foreign policy, and energy security. Mr. Mytilineos emphasized the need for a realistic and sustainable plan for the energy transition. As he noted, Europe is already paying a high price for decisions that led to high energy costs and dependency in raw materials. Both speakers agreed that Europe now faces multiple challenges - geopolitical, energy-related, and industrial. However, within these challenges lies a historic opportunity to reinvent Europe and redefine its role in the world.

As part of METLEN’s international growth strategy and effort to strengthen its presence in high-potential energy transition markets, the company continues to advance its position in Australia. The company has refinanced all its operational and under-construction projects in Australia. This portfolio consists of seven solar parks that will collectively generate nearly 1 TWh of renewable energy annually once fully operational. This will significantly contribute to Australia’s power supply and avoid approximately 650,000 tons of CO₂ emissions each year. Most of the energy produced, along with the Large-Scale Generation Certificates (LGCs), has been secured through 10-year Green Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) with leading public- and private-sector organizations. This success in Australia is another decisive step toward realizing METLEN’s vision, strengthening its global footprint, and adding long-term value to its energy portfolio.

On May 22 and 23, the Italian Business team participated in the Taranto Eco Forum in the city of Taranto, Puglia region. METLEN was gold sponsor of the event focused on energy transition and decarbonisation in Italy. The development team (speaker: Antonio Gelsomino, Project Developer Manager) in a panel called “Hydrogen, a new energy era”, presented the innovative “Statte” green hydrogen project in Taranto, once again demonstrating METLEN's pioneering commitment to the energy transition in Italy.

It is always great to have the hard work of METLEN’s employees recognised by our stakeholders! METLEN has designed, constructed and commissioned the North Wall Temporary Emergency Generation Plant (TEG) in Dublin plant on behalf of the Electricity Supply Board of Ireland (ESB) and is now providing Operation and Maintenance (O&M) services. On 20 and 22 May, our Operations and Maintenance team at North Wall TEG welcomed representatives from ESB. The purpose of the visit was to showcase the work we have done at the plant and the significance of the site in providing stability and resilience to the Irish energy system. ESB shared their appreciation for the O&M team’s work and the importance of collaboration to ensure the successful operation and availability of such emergency generation plants.

METLEN strengthens its presence in the UK by signing six new contracts for renewable energy projects with a total capacity of 313.4 MW. The projects include five solar parks and one battery energy storage system (BESS), with a combined contract value of approximately £110 million. Last week, the METLEN team from North America attended the annual Clean Energy Buyers Association (CEBA ) Spring Summit 2025 in Minneapolis, Minnesota, where METLEN was also a major sponsor. This annual gathering brought together over 400 clean energy buyers, providing an excellent opportunity for the METLEN team to connect with clean energy buyers and industry partners from across North America through dedicated meetings and sessions. During the Summit, as part of our CEBA Leadership Circle membership, our Head of PPA & Energy Origination for North America, Lillian Kasa, MBA delivered a workshop titled: "Power Couples – Deal Structuring PPA and BESS Transactions in Canada." The team also hosted a private dinner for over 60 partners, attended by CEBA CEO Rich Powell and keynote speaker, Minnesota Vikings fullback CJ Ham. The dinner provided an opportunity for further discussions on PPAs, the advancement of a carbon-free energy future, and emerging market and policy trends.
