I understand if example Facebook have a metaverse city with something like top universities or services around, and the limited land is sold for accomodation or businesses or attractions etc... But buying random lands on random metaverve projects for thousands $ ??

Can someone explain to me the concept of buying land on the metaverse? Why would I want to buy land on an infinite (horizontal and vertical) space with no real-world utilities around?
