It has been a pleasure (most of the time). I'm giving rice & coke a rest & will avoid carrying a bag for a few days... oh, & drink from the tap! Tx for looking out for me & dragging me about. I kept a vague track of our journey & we covered min. 14650 miles #notincludingwalks

It has been a great trip, nay ADVENTURE- You rose to the Challenges ( both as a team & individually) & SMASHED it. Don't forget to finish your journals & once the dust has settled & washing machine is rested, look back at your photos & share them.

Last couple. I told Lynsey we'd made it back, not expecting a reply; but no- she was straight back to me- she wanted to say a huge well done to you all again & to make us a little bit jealous, on WIFI (how?) showed us her current view.. back on the West Coast. #intrepidexplorer

Having put his foot down the pilot got us to LGW earlier than rescheduled. Thanks @airmauritius a great flight. Time for a final debrief & wee, deep breath before heading out to meet families. Lizzie had a v uncooperative trolley 🤣

It was great to cross the Channel back over UK land. There were some white fluffy things in the air- we're not familiar with those #lastseenatthetopofAnjarreserve

Some didn't waste anytime getting to sleep- we were shocked to see only 6 films in their selection as we took off, but someone must have then paid the Netflix subscription & many more options appeared. We crossed the equator just after 2am #welcomebacktothenorthernhemisphere

A short hop over to Mauritius meant we lost an hour and it got darker earlier.

So..we're back. Last few tweets for the time being documenting our return journey. Tanna International was surprisingly well organised, although we couldn't spend our last few Ariary. They went to a women & children's charity. We said goodbye to the Red Island- what a landscape

URGENT MESSAGE- Not so good news- We're delayed in Mauritius. However, the team have been invited to dinner by Air Mauritius at Burger King #everycloud At the moment we are not due @LGW until 0855.Parents please allow an hour for us to come through. Will confirm as late as poss

First stagevif our return journey went smoothly. We've arrived in Mauritius which looked spectacular even in the dark. BUT...

Our last journey with Rhodin to the airport. The roads weren't any quieter; we won't be complaining of traffic in the UK for a while nor potholes!! Destination Mauritius 🇲🇬 🛫 🇲🇺

And so our long journey home begins. Rhodin our illustrious, dedicated driver, is seeking shade under Ben's armpit. He was 3 hours early to collect us😅 his passing shot was " see you next week?"🤣🤣 (if only!!) we managed to dodge the porters & checkin was fairly painless.

A minor setback this morning in that Bank of A was happy to exchange our £ on arrival, not so keen to give it back so we're expecting to be"stung" at the airport. Lunch at midi, départ for airport 1300 hrs

It's been a morning of packing, unpacking & repacking & trying to work out how to get all our stuff back into the bags in which it came out. Photo is aerial shot of Chez Jeanne with various pads highlighted. I think we'd recommend it if anyone was out this way #toomuchbonbon

We've had our last supper, topped off with an impromptu review of the trip (they were reminded that there's still 1 day to go) Clearly plenty of challenges have been taken on & many happy memories have been created. There's plenty to talk about. We'll try to update on progress.

After a couple of hours of guided tour, we were more than happy to find out that lunch was included (Ben; aka chancellor of the exchequer; was even happier to only pay for drinks & a tip). Then onto the craft fair & serious bartering !

Then we spent some time with the classic ring tailed lemurs. They didn't mind posing for photos either #imkingjuliannoimkingjulian

Back at the lemur park we watched this mother jumping about the trees ( licking the salt off the wood) them realised she was carrying her 3 week old baby (see pic) #moreoohsandaahs
