I’m playing Ocarina of Time for the first time and there’s no way I just had watch the King Zora scooch his fatass over for 30 straight seconds

Retro games were originally designed with CRT TV technology in mind. Developers often relied on the natural pixel blending and soft blur of CRT displays to achieve certain visual effects and overall presentation. When these games are played on modern TVs, that original visual style is altered significantly, and many of the intended artistic details and effects are no longer represented as they were meant to be seen.

Were retro games better on CRT TVs, or are modern displays good enough?

Super Mario Bros. 2 was a reskin of a completely different game known in Japan as Doki Doki Panic! That’s why it feels so different from other Mario games of its era. Meanwhile, the true sequel to Super Mario Bros. was The Lost Levels, essentially a more difficult extension of the original game. At the time, Nintendo of America considered The Lost Levels too challenging for American Gamernauts, so they opted to release the Doki Doki Panic adaptation instead. Little did they know, years later, American Gamernauts would go on to embrace brutally difficult games like the Dark Souls series, something that probably would have surprised Nintendo back then, given how cautious they were about difficulty levels.

This has to be the weirdest Mario ever created.

@NostalgiaYZ MxC had the best quick fire jokes from the "hosts". Even as a young Gamernaut not understanding all the jokes, the show was still ao much fun to watch.

Spike TV had some banger shows back in the 2000s.

@RetroMoviesDB This movie is a comedic satire of Hollywood action movies. While it has its share of awkward moments, it still delivers plenty of laughs and remains a highly memorable movie. Gamernaut score: 1 Chuck Norris thumbs up.

As a wee Gamernaut, I once got into a heated debate with a friend over what a PlayStation actually was. In my mind, “Nintendo” was just the universal word for “console”. I was so confident that I was fully prepared to go Jackie Chan on my friend. Then, a few brain cells finally rubbed together, and gently informed me that I had absolutely no idea what I was talking about.
