We enjoyed our Drama workshops today with Samuel. The kids were great and I think they would love the workshops over the Easter holidays! Letters about this to follow.
Today we created stencils and used these to create chalk silhouette war time sky lines. The children enjoyed this and can now experiment with the stencils to layer or use different colours of chalk to see what else they can create!
These children have bn working hard to produce the most amazing model Anderson Shelters as part of their home learning! I am so impressed with their efforts!
We tried our hands (pardon the pun) at some finger knitting today. This is part of our "make do and mend" section of ww2. Some of the girls even got brave and started trying it with two colours together! Next step using more than one finger and finally knitting needles!
This smart cookie didn't just create one amazing Anderson Shelter... She built 2! One shows figures in the process of building their shelter and the other shows the finished shelter! She has worked so hard on these!!
Some very impressive inverted balances in gymnastics today. The children chose their comfort levels and then practised head and handstands! Some even managed to move on to the next level!
We have been learning about rationing during WW2 this week. The children wanted to try and make some of the strange recipes that might have existed due to rationing. Today they followed a recipe for Carrot Cookies. These got mixed reviews!
We had Drama lessons this afternoon and learned how to freeze frame and thought tap. We put ourselves in the place of evacuees in different situations during the Evacuation process. We tried to show how they were feeling then shared their thoughts.
A lovely day at the park, library and then church hall for lunch before heading back to school for some enquiry based learning using construction and circuit toys.
