“It’s not the first time in history artists have faced oppression and it won’t be the last. We should support each other, come together and defend our shared space, our territory, the place where imagination can roam free. Because if they come for one of us they will eventually come for all. “ On Monday 26/4/26 I gave a speech at the House of Lords, Palace of Westminster to help launch toolkit.freedominthearts.com Please follow/donate to @Freedom_in_Arts they are doing VITAL work for all of us.”

Coming up on the show live at 12pm: There has been a strong political backlash to the Government’s decision to begin withdrawing accommodation supports for Ukrainian refugees in Ireland. The Refugee Council has warned the move to “wind down” State accommodation would be “really, really problematic”. Labour TDs Ged Nash and Ciarán Ahern have criticised the plans, with Nash calling them “immoral” and “unethical”. Meanwhile, Aontú leader Peadar Tóibín says: “Nobody from outside this country should be getting support that isn’t available to Irish citizens.” So where do you stand? Is removing supports for Ukrainian refugees immoral, or is it simply bringing things back to reality? Comments to 085 100 22 55

@piekna Good spot. Had done a lot of searching and couldn’t find any connection. Still doesn’t explain why Glennon put his neck on the line for him but at least explains how the approach happened.

1/4 One important question remains unanswered about the Jim Glennon/Daniel Ramamoorthy scandal - why did Glennon write it? He seems to have no connection to Ramamoorthy, either through FF or Edelman, so why do it? The “I was naive” excuse doesn’t explain it - Glennon is no longer

@thepaulwilliams Have done 6. Never in fancy dress. Dunno how they do it. In dublin in 2022 a few of our army lads did it in full kit weighing about 25 kg.

@RobJF24 I think its obvious from the players that he is well liked. The intros bring a bit of reaction from the crowd too. Life be boring otherwise.

Rob Walker coming under a fair bit of criticism of late, one reason of which is for being too OTT, which is ironic because a lot of the dislike towards him is very OTT, in my opinion. His style is not going to be everyone's cup of tea, sure, and it would probably get irritating if it were for every tournament, but I think his bombastic intros are perfect for the biggest events like this one, even if they do sometimes extend into relative absurdity for whatever reason. It's well documented that he does communicate with the players regarding what they're happy with, so I don't think he's crossing any lines or such, really. I also feel in the minority for enjoying his commentary, but I think it's a testament to his enthusiasm for the sport that he's embracing a multitude of roles, and it can't be an insignificant amount of work he has to put in. Obviously, MC duties are Walker's mainstay, but I find his energy very infectious regardless of his position, and that's a huge positive for me. (Always been a super nice guy whenever I see him as well despite seemingly being in a perpetual state of rushing from one place to another 😂)

@AnMailleach Because it will become the norm. How about the govt does something about the thousands of empty homes in the country that need to TLC. Get them back onto the open market.

@mullallyelaine @nwl88444048 @irish_question_ And instead of directing wind/solar farm energy to data centres, give that to homes, businesses. Govt can make these choices. But too many schemes and not enough practical options taken.

@mullallyelaine @nwl88444048 @irish_question_ Until the solar panels cost is met over time. When people are then in credit on electricity bills it covers gas bills. Govt dont want the people off fossil fuels as its one less thing to be able to tax

People have got to stop blaming Trump and every other external sources for the financial situation we are in at the moment, if the Irish government wanted to sort out the problem they could have but they didn’t! Episode 12 of @irish_question_ out now.

80% of the Irish people support Palestine Clearly you’re out of touch with your constituents
MauriceDockrel1@MDockrel1

@DODubhda It is very concerning. I don't believe the vast majority of Irish people support this but there is an influential and well funded lobby that is very aggressive that organisations are frightened of. This is a dark day for free speech in Ireland.

One thing I've not heard anyone answer is, beyond the €250mn reduction in fuel taxes already in effect (costing the exchequer €4mn a day) where the shortfall should be made up from if we are to cut taxes substantially further? Spending on schools, hospitals, road maintenance?

@Ashley70395 @Dunleavb @neilfissler In 2019 Leinster played toulouse in dublin. If R92 had beaten Toulouse in the QF Leinster would have played R92 in the La Defense Arena. There was no outcry then about venues, funny that.

@Dunleavb @neilfissler It’s not I agree. Nor is a lot ever Leinster’s fault in the context of errors 😂 neutral venue at the Aviva isn’t either, doesn’t made it fair for those involved Much the same could be said for Bordeaux’s side, but at least they’re not actually at their home ground
