This reminds me of a conversation I had with a friend recently who works as a construction manager in Ottawa. He came to Nigeria for a few days and made a remark I’ll never forget. He said that in the one week that he’s been around, he hasn’t seen a single straight line on any building and I was just at a loss for words..
Kêmjī@itsmrkemji

The construction industry in Nigeria is at an all time low honestly. Having a drink and I just looked out at this building across and their isnt a single straight line or squared edge in this building.

Next to Che Guevara’s execution, one of the most shocking historical events I’ve ever read about was the hanging of Zulfikar Ali Bhutto. You read about these things and wish the story hadn’t ended the way it did, yet it did. Life is that unpredictable and unscripted. Up until the moment of his execution, he didn’t believe it. His family didn’t believe it. The whole world didn’t believe it, yet it happened, and everybody basically moved on eventually. I learned one thing from it; don’t ever let your enemies capture you. And if they do, don’t sit there believing they will do the right thing. Honestly, it’s often better to die fighting.

Historical video: Zulfikar, the President of Pakistan, tore up a United Nations document when he was told that Pakistan should not possess nuclear weapons.

It’s Sunday. Imagine resting in this type of a home on weekends after a hectic week at work :)... On the Brooks: Angamaly, Kerala, India. The roof catches rainwater and channels it through the house into a courtyard, then out to an orchard for irrigation. The cane canopy over the car porch is hand-cut and locally harvested. The brick wall curves like a brook. Nothing here is decorative, everything is doing something. A house that works with the monsoon instead of hiding from it. 📍 Angamaly, Kerala, India 🇮🇳 🏛 Monsoon Collective 📷 K. Midhul

I welcomed His Excellency Majid Saffar, the Iranian Ambassador to Uganda, who called on me this afternoon in Kyankwanzi. We discussed issues of mutual interest and cooperation between Uganda and Iran.

The best explanation I have ever heard of the New York Times' editorial line throughout its history is that it's not a left-wing newspaper, or a right wing newspaper, but an *establishment* newspaper. It will always side with the establishment, meaning whoever is currently in power. If Bush wants a war, the New York Times will give him a war. If Biden wants a genocide, the New York Times will argue for his genocide. It goes beyond party. It just serves power. And that means it serves the status quo only. In this sense, the New York Times is anti-progress. It will never push anything forward. At most, it may occasionally look back when power transfers hands, and it reconsiders its previous positions to align them with the current establishment at any given time. But it will never, ever argue on the side of human progress. Once you know this, you stop expecting anything from the paper or its owners. There is no moral principle at work, no particularly ethical demand. The only goal is to be on the right side of power.

In 1964, the New York Times editorial board called a civil rights anti-segregation walkout of New York City public schools "violent," "reckless," and "demanding the impossible."

#Sudan’s Ambassador to Germany, Ilham Ibrahim Mohamed Ahmed, has formally delivered a memorandum to the German Federal Foreign Office rejecting plans to convene a Berlin conference on Sudan without the participation and consent of the Sudanese government. The move came during a meeting with Ambassador Gesa Bräutigam, Director for Sub-Saharan Africa and the Sahel at the German Foreign Office, where the Sudanese envoy conveyed her government’s objection to what it described as exclusion from consultations and arrangements related to the conference. According to the memorandum, Sudan considers any discussions or decisions about the country without its official involvement a violation of international law and the United Nations Charter, as well as an infringement on national sovereignty and established diplomatic norms. The ambassador also warned against what she described as attempts to equate the Sudanese state and its legitimate institutions with an armed militia, saying such an approach would undermine state authority, encourage parallel structures, and strip the conference of any practical value. She added that excluding the government, which she said is supported by the majority of the Sudanese people, would not contribute to achieving peace or stability in the country.

@SamsonMKasumba Nothing complex about M7's mind. It can be summed up in a few points: 1) A direct challenge to his power is treated as treason or next to treason. 2) He'll use all means, resources, and institutions to destroy this challenge when it comes. Quite simple. Nothing really deep.

In my masters class one of the best and most impactful lessons was how to read silence! The professor introduced me to the idea that: “silence is deliberate direct speech”. When trying to understand @KagutaMuseveni be very keen on the things he refuses to say! There is always a reason and a coded message in there. The issue is whether those for whom the message is intended read it. As you watch Kyankwanzi be VERY keen on The President’s silence then work out his coded message if you can.
