@declanganley Terrible take, he is negotiating Irans 10 point plan. At best he has just TACO’d again and gained literally nothing.

@declanganley It is a war crime to threaten people with civilisation destruction under the Geneva Conventions. Stop making excuses for this behaviour, its not acceptable.

It is wrong to threaten to do something which is intrinsically immoral, even if the threatened evil action never happens.

Yesterday, for Easter Sunday, I attended (unusual for me) a Traditional Latin Mass close to Times Square, at one of the only Roman Catholic churches where it is currently permitted to be offered in New York City. It was beautiful, orderly, and unpretentious -- certainly less "performance"-like than many a Novus Ordo liturgy I have attended. And its attendees -- far too many to fit in the packed pews -- were racially and culturally diverse, very diverse in age, and quite diverse in dress. E.g. on the women's side, some were veiled or wore hats while some did not cover their hair, and there were also many pairs of slacks amid the many skirts of various lengths. Among the many young families there, a large number were Hispanic. I came away from this not only feeling joyful it was Easter and that I had experienced such a beautiful High Mass in celebration of the Church's highest holy day, but also wishing that far more of the men who govern the Church would -- as Pope Leo XIV requested of them recently -- become more generous in spirit toward those who love the traditional form of the Mass. I.e. I wish and pray that the men who govern the Church would make this form of the Mass more accessible to the growing number women and men who love it devotedly -- or who at least would like to experience it once in a while. And I wish, too, that among those men who govern the Church who are most fearful of the traditional Mass -- or who are otherwise opposed to it -- would at least stop stereotyping and caricaturing the diverse women and men who are devoted to it.

I can’t believe how hard Tucker just went at Trump and he is legitimately a modern American hero for doing it.

Alphie Lonergan is 84 years old and the primary carer for two of his adult children. He's worried about how he'll cope after a health trust said it was withdrawing a care package. The Southern Health Trust apologised but said the decision was due to a lack of social care staff.

Opinion: Continuing to label Turkey as a reliable NATO ally is dangerous, as Ankara’s ambitions erode the very alliance structures that have long sustained Western security. jpost.com/opinion/articl…

First time I ever saw anyone in Ireland refer to anti-Catholic discrimination in Irish employment etc was lefty novelist/columnist Dermot Bolger - in the Evening Herald. Fair play to him, but why weren't Catholics themselves engaging in this salutary form of what-aboutery?

Israel was not updated until the ceasefire was on the verge of being signed. They were not part of the agreement process. It shows a serious, and justified, lack of trust that Israel would try to sabotage the talks.

7/4/2026 In a large Govt survey with binary choices, 60% of parents with children in Catholic and other single denomination schools want them to remain Catholic. Just look at Emma O'Kelly's @rtenews headline, repeated just now on @morningireland. Unbelievable level of bias.

Whenever @rtenews⁩, especially Emma O’Kelly, report on RC schools I reach for 2 photos to remind me of her lie when she claimed that only in RoI are state funded teachers paid by State to prepare for Sacraments. In my last London school…
