When Donald Trump was asked how 1,000 Americans dying a day could possibly mean Covid was “under control” he said, “it is what it is.” So forgive me if I don’t give a flying fuck about how hard it is to sit in a cold courtroom. When a military widow was mourning the loss of her husband, Trump told her “he knew what he had signed up for.” So forgive me if I don’t give a fuck about how embarrassing it is to trend for publicly passing gas in the middle of publicly passing out. While a rabid mob of Trump crazed zombies beat our Capitol police with their own shields, tased them and sprayed them with chemicals, he sat and watched it unfold on tv. So forgive me if I don’t give a fuck about how much endurance sitting in a chair with your mouth shut requires. When a beautiful young boy nicknamed “Smiley” was murdered in his school, Trump said we had to “get over it.” So forgive me if I don’t give a fuck about how challenging it is to stay awake when grownups are discussing the crimes you committed. When a young woman was killed, Trump lied about personally speaking with her family because he didn’t actually give a shit about any of them & just wanted to use her death for fear mongering propaganda. So forgive me if I don’t give a fuck about him maybe missing his trophy wife’s kid’s graduation. He golfed and tweeted while refrigerator trucks piled up with bodies. He ate lunch while the men and women defending our Capitol were nearly crushed to death. He joked when Paul Pelosi was attacked by a man with a hammer. He has intentionally stoked, poked, primed and prodded the cult to commit acts of violence against his foes and their families. He’s pardoned some of the most viscous, evil creatures on earth while praising despots & dictators as being “strong” at the same time. He fell “in love” with Otto Warmbier’s murderer, and became BFF’s with Khashoggi’s. So please forgive me if I don’t give a single, solitary flying fuck about how much personal fortitude it requires for him to sit his criminal conman, racist, rapist fat ass down in a goddamn chair in between feeding times four fucking times a week. Because I really, really do not give a motherfucking fuck about how “hard” he thinks he has it because at this particular moment in time, the worst consequence he’s ever faced for his lifetime of depravity, is to have to sit the fuck down and shut the fuck up for a couple of hours a couple of days a week. Forgive me but I just can’t seem to find a single goddamn fuck to give.

I hope a lot of people watched MSNBC this morning. They had Chris Hayes on ( who I watch every single night ) and he was exposing how republicans actually want America to be broken. He reminded everyone of some dangerous things that will happen if trump regains the White House. Your taxes will go up because trump wants to give the top 1% another tax break. Trump will end social security and Medicare , he will alter the CONSTITUTION to allow him to dispense revenge on those who he feels have slighted him, including news media. Some of these things are also what Bobby Kennedy’s daughter said as she was endorsing Joe Biden for re-election. MSNBC also showed how Barr, Graham,McCarthy, Sunnunu, RAND Paul , and others, railed against trump after Jan6th, but now endorse him. When they were airing this, I have to admitt from the very depths of my being, I was so ASHAMED of all of them. The threat that America is facing is that there are a lot of un-Americans in power. THAT’S got to change in November.

Many things can be true at the same time without contradicting each other, if only grown adults would breath and recognize nuance: Caitlyn Clark deserves every bit of her success and has played an outsized role in the recent spike of interest in women's basketball. If Caitlyn Clark were a Black woman, she would not be receiving this level of well-deserved attention and plaudits. That's not a criticism of Clark; that's an indictment of our sports media infrastructure and the stories it prioritizes above others. It is a flat-out lie to pretend racism isn't a factor here. Caitlyn Clark's WNBA contract is far, far below what is reasonable for a sports figure of her stature, but there are many other deserving WNBA athletes who have achieved greatness and didn't receive this level of outrage and support for being underpaid. Caitlyn Clark will enjoy tens of millions of dollars in endorsements, which she deserves, and also: other deserving WNBA players do not enjoy such lucrative endorsements, despite their exceptional on-court play and consistently overlooked marketing potential. I actually love that some WNBA athletes are eager to compete against Clark and dominate her on the court. That is a *good* thing for women's basketball. Superstar college male athletes have gotten a rough reception in the pro leagues for decades. Drama and tension are good for the growth of sports. Stop infantilizing women athletes. They don't have to like each other, and they don't have to make viewers comfortable by playing nice. A woman reporter would never have initiated that weird and unnecessary exchange that male reporter had with Caitlyn Clark this week. There are great male reporters in sports, but this also underlines the paucity of women reporters in sports because they aren't given the same opportunities to cover great athletes. Hire more women in sports journalism. Women's college basketball beat men's college basketball by a country mile in TV ratings and ticket sales, and a lot of men are clearly, deeply uncomfortable with this massive cultural shift and need to get over it. Women's sports will continue to grow, many fragile males will continue to be fragile, and most of us, regardless of gender, will recognize how entertaining it is to watch phenomenal women athletes battle each other at the highest levels of competition.
