.@SenWarren calls the 401(k) rule a “Wall Street play” but her own state’s pension fund earned 16.88% returns over 10 years from private equity, ranking 4th among 200 U.S. public pensions. Government workers in Massachusetts have been benefiting from these investments for decades. Why does she want to keep everyone else locked out?!
Elizabeth Warren@SenWarren

Here’s the latest Wall Street play. Step 1: Promote a new shadowy financial product. Step 2: Lobby the Trump Admin to roll back safeguards and shove private credit into Americans’ 401(k)s. Step 3: When it goes south, get out fast while leaving families holding the bag.

The modern European mindset is "we shouldn't have to contribute anything or do any heavy lifting, but also we still get a seat at the table and to make demands because we're entitled and enlightened" and that's not how reality has ever worked. You want a seat at the table, bring something to the table.

Nick Shirley's efforts have led to billions in fraud being discovered, stopped, and in some cases, prosecutions. But what does he get? Journalists like Nick create massive amounts of value, and capture almost none of it. "Do the right thing," is great, and doesn't pay the bills.

This animal was ‘competent’ enough to vote. He was ‘competent’ enough to get welfare. He was ‘competent’ enough to get public housing. He was ‘competent’ enough to get EBT. He was ‘competent’ enough to get free bus rides. He was ‘competent’ enough to acquire a murder weapon. He was ‘competent’ enough to slice a girls throat in an instant. He was ‘competent’ enough to immediately brag about murdering “that white girl.” This animal was ‘competent’ enough to stand trial for 14 (!!!!) previous violent offenses and be set free. But now that he’s facing the death penalty he’s miraculously ‘incompetent’ and cannot be judged. My blood is boiling. Impeach and punish the corrupt judges who allowed this violent repeat offender to be free to kill Iryna. Federal charges better stick and deliver the death penalty to this monster, who was caught on camera committing racial hate murder. Make it a public execution. End this madness. We cannot share a society with these people. Kill evil.

Folks: I had a great call this morning with our US Attorney in Charlotte. Brown remains in federal custody and so the parallel state proceedings are in no way dispositive. There will be a federal competency determination and prosecution track taking precedence.
U.S. Attorney WDNC@USAO_WDNC

DeCarlos Brown is in federal custody on a federal indictment. The state proceedings, including any competency finding in those proceedings, are completely separate.

In no way are you "just as American" as I am. We have nothing in common. No shared history, culture, religion, worldview, tradition, or values to speak of whatsoever. What you are is the product of foreign colonizers who managed to exploit my country's legal system to legitimize your invasion, and I will support any political leader or movement that will denaturalize and deport you and everyone like you.

No movie has done more to give journalists an entirely unearned sense of moral superiority.

All the President’s Men turns 50 today. This famous “six‑minute shot” is a masterclass in phone acting and pure technical nerve. Director Alan J. Pakula and cinematographer Gordon Willis pull off a single, unbroken slow zoom: from a wide, humming newsroom to a tight close-up on Redford. No cuts. No safety net. Tension builds in real time. Redford carries it with typical quiet confidence. Six minutes of note-taking and talking into a phone, no flashy “Oscar clip.” He even flubs a name (“McGregor” for “Dahlberg”), corrects himself naturally, and Pakula keeps it because it feels authentic. The background is part of the story. As Woodward hones in on his phone call, everyone behind him huddles around a TV watching Senator Tom Eagleton resign. The contrast is deliberate: they chase the “obvious” headline, while the camera drifts past them to Woodward, and the real story. To hold Redford and the busy background in focus early on, they used a split‑diopter lens, then had to ease it out as the camera moves in. A technical tightrope. The timing of both actor and cinematographer is spot on. As Woodward closes in on the truth, the world literally falls away: the newsroom blurs, the noise fades, and we lock into his obsession. It’s one of cinema’s great moments: Redford doing almost nothing—and somehow everything at the same time. What makes this shot brilliant is the contrast it carves between Redford and the newsroom around him. The visual language does the talking: he’s locked in, disciplined, driven, all focus and fire. He stands apart because the work matters more than anything else.

EXCLUSIVE: California spends $30 billion per year paying 800,000 people to cook, clean, shop, and watch television with family members and others. This "in-home care" program operates mostly on the honor system—and loses $6 to $12 billion a year to fraud. city-journal.org/article/califo…

This is what happens when politicians like Zohran Mamdani pick winners and losers. Brick-and-mortar businesses pay rent, taxes, refrigeration, inspections, payroll. Street vendors? None of the above. So yeah, of course the supermarket is getting crushed. You didn’t create “equity.” You created unfair competition.
1010 WINS on 92.3 FM@1010WINS

🍋 🥚 A Bronx supermarket owner says dozens of food vendors have taken over the area outside his store, putting his business on the brink of closure. Marvin Cruz, the owner of Food Fair Fresh Supermarket in Fordham, said he’s counted up to 30 vendors around Fordham Road and Jerome Avenue. “They don’t have no refrigeration, and they’re selling multiple different items,” he said. “I’ve even seen vendors selling eggs, not refrigerated. A mess of box. They’re blocking the sidewalk. They don’t pick up their garbage.” “When you’re passing by a supermarket and you see all this vending, all these tables set up on the street and tons of boxes, you don’t feel even safe to get out,” he said. He said he’s gone from 100 employees to 65 employees and that his business could shut down. Cruz said repeated calls to city for help and a crackdown are going unanswered. “We love the community. We invested in the community. We want to be part of the community. We need help,” he said. 🎤 @glennschuck reports 📸 Marvin Cruz 🔊 Tune into 1010 WINS at 92.3 FM for more local news #nyc #newyorkcity #nycnews #thebronx #nycnews #business #smallbusiness
