This Memorial Day, we take a solemn moment to remember the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice for our great nation. We remember their lives and honor their bravery, courage, and legacy. They will never be forgotten.

On Memorial Day, we honor the American heroes who gave their lives in defense of our freedom. From Gettysburg to the deserts of the Middle East, generations of patriots have answered the call and paid the ultimate price. We owe them our liberty. We owe them our remembrance. God bless our fallen and the Gold Star families who carry their memory.

Dictatorships know how to manufacture crowds. They know how to pressure workers, force attendance, and turn propaganda into spectacle. But no amount of propaganda can hide reality. At a time when Cuba is facing blackouts, food shortages, fuel scarcity, and growing desperation, the government is still forcing people into the streets to pretend everything is normal. As Secretary Rubio has said, Cuba’s rulers have shown not only repression, but incompetence. After 67 years, they have left behind scarcity, collapse, and a people still denied the freedom and prosperity they deserve. No rally can change that.

Adys Lastres Morera is the sister of the Executive President of GAESA, the Cuban military-controlled financial conglomerate that steals millions in aid for the Cuban people at the behest of the regime. Morera was managing real estate assets and living in Florida, while also aiding Havana's communist regime, until I terminated her permanent resident status. I am pleased to announce that today, she was arrested and is now in the custody of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement. There will be nowhere on this Earth - much less in our country - where foreign nationals who threaten our national security can live lavishly.
