I probably shouldn't be sharing this. But here I am doing it anyways. Funny what living off-grid (away from society) and posting somewhat anonymously allows me to do! Well, here's my secret off-grid fashion hack.

This is my favorite place to chop wood. Right underneath the trees, everything green. It's shaded, quiet, exactly the kind of spot that makes a chore feel less like a chore. I could probably find a faster setup somewhere more open, but I keep coming back here anyway.

Woodstove going, dried herbs filling up the jars… just living simple and taking care of home. There’s something special about doing things the old-fashioned way.

Quit my physics PhD to live off-grid. Quit soap not long after. Giant horsetail tea — foraged, dried, steeped — does what soap can't. Silica, astringent, antimicrobial. Hair and skin have never been healthier. Funny how the "primitive" option was the upgrade.

Living off-grid isn't all about sacrifice (though I havent showered in a week, because I'm low on rainwater...). It's really about noticing what you have.

Went out to process nettle for cordage in shorts, like an idiot. Got immediately stung by a plant I've known for months. Would do it again. Cordage from stinging nettle: 10/10. My pants decision: 2/10.
