I wouldn’t be remotely the filmmaker I am today without having my brain rewired by Werckmeister Harmonies (2000) 18 years ago. A monumentally great filmmaker gone too soon, even if he felt he had nothing left to give. Hope he’s grumbling “fucking shit” somewhere more peaceful.

文化村ル・シネマにて上映中の『 #トポロジー・オブ・セイレーン 』ジョナサン・デイヴィス監督からコメントが届きました！ -------- 「自然のエレメント」による映画。 現代の映画でありながら、表層的な美意識による模倣ではなく、まるで別の時代に属する映像そのものをカメラが捉えているかのような感覚を味わえるのは、きわめて稀で、貴重な体験です。 『祖谷物語－おくのひと－』で四季を鮮やかに描いた蔦監督ならではの自然主義的な画面構成は、吹き抜ける風、立ちのぼる霧や靄の一つひとつを監督自身が呼び起こし、形づくっているかのようです。 しかし最大の功績は、その自然主義が、観客がほとんど気づかないうちに、静かな表現主義へとゆっくり移行していく点にあります。 -------- デイヴィス監督は来日時のトークイベントでも影響を受けた作品として『祖谷物語－おくのひと－』を挙げてくださいました。 『トポロジー・オブ・セイレーン』、ル・シネマでの上映は1/8（木）、広島・横川シネマは1/9（金）まで！ ぜひ劇場でご覧ください🧜🐃 @christmas1121 @gucchi_school @JAIHO_JP @BunkamuraCinema @yokogawacinema #黒の牛 1/23（金）公開
