Huge thanks to Eastside Church for hosting a wonderful Friendsgiving Dinner! This year marked our fifth annual gathering, and with nearly 100 people in attendance, it was our biggest and warmest celebration yet. The evening was filled with delicious food, great company, and a welcoming spirit that made everyone feel at home. The night was full of laughter and connection—including a lively Kahoot game that brought out everyone’s competitive side in the best way. We’re grateful for five years of friendship, hospitality, and shared gratitude, and we look forward to many more moments like this together!

On November 21, Pacifica Foundation Seattle had the joy of hosting friends from Temple Beth Or and Community Christian Fellowship (CCF) for an evening of Scriptural Reasoning. Nearly 30 of us—Christians, Jews, and Muslims—came together around a shared dinner, conversation, and reflection, continuing a tradition we’ve been holding for over three years. Scriptural Reasoning is a unique inter-faith practice in which people of different traditions read and reflect on their sacred texts together, promoting deeper understanding and meaningful dialogue. We read and discussed “Learning and Education” from the Scriptural Reasoning Program, exploring how our sacred texts speak to the meaning of learning, teaching, and growing in wisdom. The dialogue was thoughtful, personal, and deeply enriching. We’re grateful to everyone who joined us and helped create such a warm spirit of understanding. Looking forward to many more gatherings that build bridges and deepen friendship in our community.

Interfaith Iftar Dinner: Where Faith, Science, and Art Met in Harmony Last night, our community came together for an unforgettable interfaith Iftar dinner—a celebration that transcended boundaries and brought people of diverse backgrounds into a shared space of reflection, learning, and connection. The evening opened with a heartfelt welcome by Necmettin Eskici, Executive Director of the Pacifica Foundation Seattle, followed by a moving video presentation capturing the deeper meaning of Ramadan. With each moment, the atmosphere grew richer—not only with the anticipation of breaking fast but with the warmth of shared understanding. Our guest speaker, Dr. Aziz Turkoğlu, a professor of biology, offered more than just scientific insights. He took us on a journey through his research in mycology and truffle cultivation, illustrating how academic knowledge can be transformed into practical contributions to the world. His passion reminded us that science and spirituality often walk hand-in-hand. The artistic soul of the evening came alive during the traditional Turkish Ebru art demonstration. As Esra painted on water, her hands guided colors in a rhythmic flow, reflecting the spirit of Ramadan—fluid, colorful, and full of depth. As Zeynep played a calming piano piece beside her, the room fell into a peaceful silence, hearts synchronized in a moment of collective awe. Both were later recognized on stage with heartfelt gratitude and applause. Before the call to prayer, guests engaged in lively conversations at their tables, making new connections and sharing stories. As the Athan echoed gently through the room, the fast was broken in unison, followed by a heartfelt dua led by Ahmed, wrapping the evening in a spiritual embrace. To end on a joyful note, we hosted a fun and interactive Kahoot trivia game, sparking laughter and friendly competition. Dilek Orhan, a dedicated math teacher and board member, closed the evening by awarding prizes to the winners. This night wasn’t just about breaking bread. It was about breaking down walls—between faiths, disciplines, and hearts. The City of Snohomish, in collaboration with the Pacifica Foundation Seattle, successfully hosted the 2nd Annual Iftar Dinner at the Snohomish Carnegie Building on Sunday, March 9, 2025. The event brought together a diverse group of attendees to celebrate the spirit of unity, understanding, and mutual respect during the holy month of Ramadan. Mayor Linda Redmon's message highlighted the significance of the gathering, stating, "It does my heart good during this time of uncertainty to see people of different faiths and backgrounds gathered together to share not only a meal but also their hopes for a world that respects and cares for all people, not just those we claim as our own." On February 22nd, our 4th and 5th graders visited the local fire station to show appreciation for our brave firefighters! They gifted Valentine’s cards, shared cookies, and had an amazing time learning about fire trucks, tools, and uniforms. The students even watched a CPR demonstration and got hands-on experience practicing it!
