I'll ask this question again :-- Why does the British tax payer have to pay for the four burnt out ambulances? They have to be insured by law so why isn't the insurance company coughing up?

@rp1hh @RakeshDas81 @chess_feed If the black king moves c8-d8 then qc7 is mate. So the black king is forced to the b-file and then the a-file, at which point the white queen can rock back between a and b until it ends up at b2. Then Ra3#

@RakeshDas81 @chess_feed Why wouldn’t black move back and forth causing stalemate from the start? The black king can simply move c8-d8 repeatedly till stalemate

@9mmballpoint We used to do "eeny meeny miney mo" in the playground and I genuinely thought the relevant line was "catch a knicker". Never understood it but just went along with it. I suspect we were all in the same boat (hence how it was never pronounced like the n-word).

This has made me genuinely curious about something: if you're white, and you didn't grow up in an explicitly racist household, how did you first learn about the n-word? I can't imagine there's a standard procedure for that sort of thing.

@bowtiedbrazil Not really. Suggestion is that you're making $2m in income FROM YOUR BUSINESS over the next 5 years. i.e. the $2m pa isn't associated with an exit. If the business is profitable enough for you to take $2m out each year, you'd be able to exit for more than $10m in 5 years' time.

15k collisions involving tractors and farm vehicles a year. Reflective tape and maybe some lights would've been good.

@CostcoUK For Christmas we’re treating ourselves and enjoying one of our last remaining bags of this beautiful coffee. The smells fill me with emotion. Still hoping that you’ll start stocking these wonderful beans again one day.

@LarbonTech @CoffeeLover_pm @mrbayoa1 It's 5.2% tax free. It would compound if she invested it (just as the $1m would only compound if you left it). The issue isn't the return or whether it compounds, but that she wouldn't also have the capital. $1m in a bank might not earn the same, but you'd also have the $1m.

@CoffeeLover_pm @mrbayoa1 Yes, that’s 5.2%, but it doesn’t compound. If she put the 1 million in the market and compounded at 4% annually, in 10 years, she’d easily come out ahead

@JInMissouri @GmThecelts1967 @IQTestBrain I agree. But it doesn't say she was a blind girl when they were lost. To look at it another way - if (as a hypothetical) we establish that she lost her sight after losing the other things, does the original phrase become incorrect/inaccurate? I think not

@JInMissouri @GmThecelts1967 @IQTestBrain It’s an adjective. She’s blind, and she’s someone who lost things. I’m a tall man and I went to primary school, but that doesn’t mean I was tall (or a man) when I went to primary school.

@GmThecelts1967 @IQTestBrain Well, we know she's blind and we know that she lost these things, but she could also have lost her sight after she lost the other things.

@SammyObeid White people do this too. I don’t know anyone who would refer to their parent’s cousin as anything other than an aunt/uncle. I wouldn’t refer to them as my cousin, once removed or not.
