Thrilled to finally share! The plant microbiota triggers dose-dependent immune responses that feed back to influence bacterial colonization. This affects non-pathogenic and pathogenic strains, impacting microbiota homeostasis. Out today in @NaturePlants: doi.org/10.1038/s41477…

Exciting news! 🤩 I will start a research group @LeibnizHKI next year! We will investigate (antimicrobial) natural products involved in interactions in the moss microbiome – a promising but so far understudied habitat 🌱🧫 Funded by @tmwwdg, @EU_Sozialfonds Plus, @aufbaubank 🙏

Towards a #circulareconomy ! Here, we show the production of 4 chemicals from different metabolic nodes and highlight the potential of our synthetic methylotrophic E. coli. Thanks to everyone that was evolved!;) It was a great team effort! @ETH_en #peer-review" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">nature.com/articles/s4192…

Recently, @PhilippPk & I developed a synthetic methylotroph in the Vorholt lab to convert green methanol to carbon-negative chemicals. Thrilled to share that we now received the SNF/Innosuisse BRIDGE Discovery grant to support translating our tech to industry. #climateChange

Exciting preprint by the lab of @CeciMGLab! They describe the discovery and structure of "methylolanthanin", a metal chelator secreted by Methylobacterium for the uptake of lanthanides!
Cecilia Martinez-Gomez@CeciMGLab

Finally out! Meet methylolanthanin! A lanthanide chelator secreted by our favorite microbe, AM1. First of its kind! Thanks to Alexa @zzzytty, Sophie @s_gutenthaler, Allegra Aaron, Zach @ZachReitzPhD, Nate, Lena @DaumannL, Tri, and Daniel. biorxiv.org/content/10.110…

Last PhD study is out in @jbiolchem ! We probed coenzyme metabolism by adding vitamins to culture media. It was fun to do, and it turns out one of the vitamins goes through a degradation-reconstitution cycle previously unidentified. doi.org/10.1016/j.jbc.…

Excited to share our latest work, led by Noa Barak-Gavish, showing how opportunistic bacteria modulate their lifestyle from coexistence to pathogenicity by perceiving the physiological state of their algal host through sensing of algal secreted metabolites elifesciences.org/articles/84400

Did you know that rare-earth elements are utilized by some bacteria?🦠😍 In this paper @jbiolchem, we describe the lanthanide response of the methylotroph Methylobacillus flagellatus and the discovery of lanpepsy, a novel lanthanide-binding protein.🤗 jbc.org/article/S0021-…
