I’m very sorry to who this may offend, but men in short sleeve work shorts gives me the ick. I just don’t think it looks good, unless you’re like a maths or science teacher. If you’re in the office, and it’s hot, a long sleeved shirt rolled up to the elbows looks so much better.

As a landlord myself with nearly 80 UK properties I can tell you that the tenants I’ve had the longest I value the loyalty so I don’t increase the rent but as they move out in the odd occasion I then get SUPER rent as I put it on booking . Com and rent it to guests. The government have squeezed us landlords so much we have to think outside the box. A friend of mine only has 3 houses and has to eat from a food bank! His houses loss him money.. Labour government for you… and section 24 tax. I told him to rent them out different ways to increase revenue but bless him he is loyal to his 3 tenants. My point is not all landlords are bad!
skumm🧊@skumWgmi

I'LL SAY IT AGAIN: IT SHOULD BE ILLEGAL for landlords to increase rent unless they're upgrading the apartment.

I have been in Tesco, delivering for customers for 3 weeks now as I aim towards my goal of being totally debt free including the house before I'm 50. I'm 44 now. I received my first paycheck on Friday. Let's break down the gains. 44 hours - £623.92 Salary sacrifice pension £46.79 (7.5% + 7.5% match) PAYE £115.40 Take home £461.73 Of this take home pay, I immediately set £300 aside into my high yield savings house fund. I then invested the other £161.73 into my stocks and shares vanguard ISA to VUAG. This is on top of my pension in my main job (5% + 5% match) and investing £550 per month also into VUAG. I feel a blended approach works well for me to continue contributing to retirement (started a bit late), while also attacking the mortgage. When I start getting full months wages for Tesco, these figures will rise. I hear all the time people saying not to pay off my 4% mortgage and just invest all the money, but my wife and I would really sleep better at night knowing we owe nothing to anyone or any bank. What personal goals are you striving for?

UK government choices for Chancellor: Ed Miliband: zero private sector economics or financial experience. Wes Streeting: zero private sector economics or financial experience. Shabana Mahmood: zero private sector economics or financial experience. America's equivalent.... Scott Bessent: Founded his own macro hedge fund, was CIO at Soros Fund Management, 30 years managing global capital Comedic contrast. The UK has a political competency crisis

This isn't normal. While this government is in chaos, its failure to protect people from extreme heat will cost lives. We need maximum workplace temperatures to protect workers and cool spaces so the vulnerable aren't exposed.
Met4Cast - UK Weather@Met4CastUK

Wet bulb temperatures on Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday could exceed >25°C widely. This is the critical threshold for vulnerable populations (elderly, infants, or individuals with chronic illnesses). It is also the point where anyone performing moderate to heavy physical labor or outdoor sports faces an exceptionally high risk of heat exhaustion and heatstroke.

Actually so embarrassing when people post about you in a nasty way and then block you. Grow the fuck up. People wonder why Restore have a negative image against them, it’s because of people like this who get clout by being a prick to others.

Minimum wage in 2005 was £5.05 an hour. A Freddo cost 10p. One hour of work bought you 50 Freddos. In 2026, minimum wage is £12.71 and a Freddo is 39p. One hour of work now buys you just 32 Freddos. So despite minimum wage more than doubling, your Freddo buying power has fallen by 36%. If wages had actually kept pace with Freddo inflation, minimum wage would be £19.65 an hour today. Forget economists. Forget politicians. The Freddo has just delivered the most depressing cost of living graph you'll ever see.

Genuine question, what changes under Andy Burnham that makes him a significant successor to improve what Keir Starmer started? Im struggling to see the point.

Bills up. Wages too low. Record profits for Oil & Gas. 50 richest families with more wealth than 50% of population. Shit in our rivers. Pensioners jailed for protesting. Migrants thrown under the bus. Supporting a Genocide. That's Starmer's legacy.

Andy Burnham will enter Downing Street as probably the most experienced politician of his generation. He has been in front line politics for over 25 years as political advisor, MP, Junior & Cabinet Minister, Shadow Minister & Metro Mayor. Keir Stamer should hand over the keys as soon as possible & let him get on with the job. He has much to prove in the next 3 years, but no one can claim to better prepared for the job of Prime Minister in Britain today

Hiking national insurance The Family Farm Tax Giving up on real welfare reform Not funding our defence Not drilling our own oil and gas Appointing Peter Mandelson…then lying about what had happened Britain is not ungovernable. Keir Starmer is a terrible Prime Minister. But the problem isn’t just Starmer. Labour MPs only want higher taxes to hand out more benefits, as the Welfare Secretary has pointed out. These are Labour’s choices and their values, regardless of who is running the party. We need to get Britain working again. We need the @Conservatives.
