Residential Structure Fire: Fire, EMS, and Police are in the scene in the 1400 block of Lakeside Drive in Shaler Township with a working residential structure fire. The residents are not at home and no injuries have been reported. There are minor traffic restrictions in the area

Traffic Alert: Elmwood Drive is closed between Elfinwild Lane and 161 Elmwood Drive due to a sink hole in the road.

W Sutter Rd is now OPEN!

Traffic Alert: W. Sutter Rd between Mt. Royal Blvd. and Phillips Ave. Is closed due to tree removal. Please detour using Bridle Rd, Hartle Rd, or Scott Ave. The road should reopen by 12 noon.

Update: 7:30 am Route 8 is now OPEN.

Traffic Alert: Route 8 southbound is closed at Spencer Lane (Glenshaw Crossing) due to a vehicle crash. Traffic is being detoured onto Butler Plank Rd/Glenn Ave. There is also a single lane restriction northbound at Fall Run Rd 2 occupants being evaluated for minor injuries.

Update: 6:50 pm Wible Run Rd is now OPEN.

Traffic Alert: Wible Run Rd is closed between Wetzel Rd and Ash Dr because of a house fire. Initial reports are that the residents are not at home. Please avoid the area and seek another route.

Both were taken to the Allegheny County Jail to await arraignment. Suspects are considered to be innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. As always, please remember to lock your vehicles and Do NOT leave valuables in your vehicles. If you “See something, Say something!”

Residents were alerted by their Ring cameras. Charges include, Theft from Motor Vehicle, Receiving Stolen Property, and Criminal Trespass as at least one climbed a fence to access the driveway area where vehicles were parked.

Overnight last night, January 4, 2026, Shaler Officers were assisted by Hampton PD in the arrest of two 18-year-old males who were stealing from unlocked vehicles. Samuel Ruano and Jacob Klugh, both from Shaler Township, were arrested in the Rosebriar Rd/Ave area.

Officers arrived and checked the area but could not locate the individual. There was no damage noted at this property. If you see anything on your cameras, similar to this, please call 9-1-1 so that we can further this investigation. Thank you!

Community Alert: The Shaler Township Police responded Saturday December 27th at approximately 10:30 pm for a suspicious person call in the Holly Ridge neighborhood off Spencer Lane Ext. A person in a hooded sweatshirt and wearing gloves was visible on a camera in a rear yard.

There are two injuries reported and they do not appear to be life-threatening.

Temporary Road Closure 200 Block of Kittanning Street for a two vehicle crash. Traffic is being detoured. Kittanning St is closed between Route 8 and Sharpshill Road. Local traffic can reach Snyder St and Lincoln St from the bottom.

The Shaler Township Police Department remembers and honors Penn Hills Police Officer Michael Crawshaw, who tragically lost his life in the line of duty 16 years ago today. Officer Crawshaw grew up in Shaler Township and graduated from Shaler Area High School.

Temporary Road Closure - Disabled Tractor Trailer Mount Royal Blvd is closed between Elfinwild Road and DeHaven Ave due to a disabled Tractor-Trailer. Detour using Grandview Ave to Rosebriar. Avoid the area if possible
