Alternate here, bear trap isn’t quite as readable but does increase the perceived danger.

Rather than just posting practice thumbnails willy-nilly, I figured I’d start providing insight to my design choices. While I do think the original is pretty solid, I think the “bear trap” label is a bit redundant, but necessary since it isn’t what most viewers already know a bear trap to be. In my version, I wanted to improve clarity by using a traditional bear trap, and increase the tension further with him about to press the pressure plate. I felt the expression was a bit off as well, almost a grin rather than a grimace. Faces themselves don’t increase clicks, the correct emotion does. Lastly I choose a blue shirt instead of the red since it provides greater color contrast to his skin tone and helps to separate him from the orange tones of the dirt. (Brown is just dark orange kids.) “I Tested Dangerous Animal Products” by Sambucha.
