Golden Pass LNG, QatarEnergy’s largest investment in the United States, marks historic milestone with first LNG production Golden Pass LNG, a joint venture between QatarEnergy and ExxonMobil, has marked a major milestone towards full operations of its LNG production and export facilities by achieving first LNG production from the first of 3 LNG trains comprising the 18 million tons per annum project. First LNG sets the stage for Golden Pass LNG to deliver its first cargo from its facilities located in Sabine Pass, Texas, by achieving sustained liquefaction operations, and meeting its commercial and strategic objectives. Commenting on this occasion, His Excellency Mr. Saad Sherida Al-Kaabi, the Minister of State for Energy Affairs, the President and CEO of QatarEnergy, said: “First LNG is of a particular importance for one of the largest single investment decisions in U.S. LNG history. The operational phase and market entry of Golden Pass LNG will come at an important time when global energy security ranks very high on energy agendas worldwide. We look forward to the safe and successful start of export operations.” His Excellency Minister Al-Kaabi said: “Golden Pass LNG is part of a wider QatarEnergy strategy for international investments that we have been planning over the past decade. It also represents a significant part of the plans announced by QatarEnergy in 2018 to invest 20 billion dollars in the U.S. energy sector. We are now seeing the first fruits of this far-sighted strategy with the start of Golden Pass LNG, which will play an important role in supporting global energy security and a fair and balanced access to cleaner energy.” Concluding his remarks, H.E. the Minister said: “I would like to thank the U.S. regulators for their effective cooperation, which has helped lead to this moment. I also would like to thank our strategic partner, ExxonMobil, with whom we continue to work closely to implement this and other projects around the world. Finally, I would like to voice gratitude to the management and all employees at Golden Pass LNG as well as the teams at QatarEnergy and ExxonMobil for their dedication and commitment, which are key to helping deliver on our energy commitment.” Golden Pass LNG is a partnership between QatarEnergy (70%) and ExxonMobil (30%). The two companies had announced their final investment decision of more than 10 billion dollars for developing the Golden Pass LNG export project in February 2019. The meeting discussed the close strategic cooperation between the State of Qatar and the United States and explored ways to further strengthen it across various fields, particularly in the area of defense partnership in light of current regional developments, in a manner that serves the shared interests of the two countries. The discussions also covered developments in global energy markets, with both sides underscoring the importance of ensuring the sustainability of energy supplies and maintaining the continued flow of liquefied natural gas from the State of Qatar to global markets, thereby supporting global energy security. HE the Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs stressed the importance of safeguarding global energy security and ensuring freedom of maritime navigation in accordance with international law. Statement | Qatar Strongly Condemns Targeting Its Territory and Sisterly States, Affirms Its Right to Respond Doha | February 28, 2026 The State of Qatar expresses its strong condemnation of the targeting of Qatari territory with Iranian ballistic missiles, considering it a flagrant violation of its national sovereignty, a direct infringement on its security and territorial integrity, and an unacceptable escalation that threatens the security and stability of the region. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs affirms that the State of Qatar reserves its full right to respond to this attack in accordance with the provisions of international law and in a manner proportionate to the nature of the aggression, in defense of its sovereignty and in protection of its security and national interests. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs stresses that the State of Qatar has been and continues to be among the foremost advocates of dialogue with the Islamic Republic of Iran, consistently calling for this approach as the optimal foundation for addressing differences and resolving disputes through peaceful means, and for sparing the region the risks of escalation. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs affirms that the targeting of Qatari territory is inconsistent with the principles of good neighborliness and cannot be accepted under any pretext or justification. The State of Qatar has consistently sought to distance itself from regional conflicts and has worked to facilitate dialogue between the Iranian side and the international community. However, the renewed targeting of its territory does not reflect good faith and threatens the foundations of understandings upon which bilateral relations between the two countries were based. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs also expresses the State of Qatar's condemnation of the violation of the sovereignty of the State of Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates, the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, and the Kingdom of Bahrain in the blatant Iranian aggression, affirming the State of Qatar's full solidarity with these sisterly states in all measures they take to safeguard their sovereignty, security, and stability.
