Now entering Year 3 with plenty of experience to lean on. Close to 400 career snaps and three starts. Started to run more behind his pads and took fight to defenders. More versatile as a receiver than given credit for. Looked noticeably better and more explosive in the spring. Riley: Very explosive and willing to initiate contact, but a lean build limited the impact of that aggressiveness. Needs to see it better at times, but having meaningful experience should help. Doesn’t have elite wiggle, but three-down ability if he can hold up in pass pro. Crowell: Easily the most talented RB on the roster. Being a reclassify puts him in the SEC a year sooner, but his body looks ready to handle a Year 1 role (age equates to a college freshman too). Explosive runner inside and out with top-tier physicality, wiggle and contact balance. Has the tools to be a valuable piece in the passing game. True three-down potential. When will he be ready though after missing most of the spring? Brown: Fantastic late find for the coaching staff. Compact, powerful and reportedly has a knack for converting in short-yardage and goal/line situations. On A-Day, showed he can be a volume pass-catcher with the ability to make defenders miss in the open field. Clearly plays with a chip on his shoulder. Lowest HS ranking of the bunch, but he has a chance to be some version of Josh Jacobs (depends on early opportunities). Can see Year 1 contributions, especially on special teams. Keith: SEC experience at Tennessee, plus more time in a college system at App State. Big back (6-1, 232) who can bring some hammer elements. Not expecting a significant offensive role on game days, but he’s local (Birmingham) and wanted to be in Tuscaloosa. That still means something for the locker room. Heard some good things about him in the spring.

The Alabama football white helmet debate is making the rounds again. Alabama wore white helmets on occasion through 1971 under Coach Bryant. Ray Perkins brought them back for selected games in 1983 and 1984. I want y’all to weigh in. Would you like to see Alabama wear white helmets again?
