So, Richard got into a love relationship with Fortunate. They both agreed they would eventually get married. Because of that plan, Richard decided to invest in their future together by sponsoring Fortunate’s education. He spent about 9.4 million shillings paying for her studies at the Law Development Centre in Kampala, where she went to pursue a Diploma in Legal Practice. The idea was that once she finished school, they would organize their introduction ceremony and move forward with the marriage. She completed the course and came back. But then things suddenly changed. Fortunate told Richard she could not go on with the marriage anymore. She said he was too old for her and that the relationship would bring her stress, since she was in her 30s while he was already in his 60s. Richard felt betrayed because he had invested heavily in her education believing they had a future together. So instead of taking matters into his own hands, he went to court and demanded that she refund the money he had spent on her studies. In 2023, the court ruled in his favor and ordered Fortunate to pay back about 9.4 million shillings, plus 1 million shillings in damages for the inconvenience and emotional distress she caused him. But she never paid. She instead tried to challenge the judgment, claiming she had not received court summons, but the courts rejected her petitions. Because she still refused to pay, the amount eventually rose to about 14.1 million shillings. yesterday, she was arrested while on duty at Rubanda Town Council and taken to Rukungiri District, where the court ordered that she be sent to civil prison for up to six months until she pays the money. Hmmm!!! Fear women!
