Virginia passed a law dictating how January 6 must be taught in public schools.
Federal prosecutors charged over 1,500 people for that day. Seditious conspiracy.
Assault. Obstruction. The one charge never filed: insurrection under 18 U.S.C. § 2383.
HB 333 passed 21-19 and heads to the governor’s desk. If a school covers the topic, teachers must call it an insurrection. Any other characterization violates the statute.
Courts required proof. Classrooms require compliance.
That asymmetry should bother everyone — regardless of how you feel about January 6.
