@RealWomenPolice If you simply give money to a poor village, it will be poor again within a week. You combat poverty by teaching them how to properly cultivate fields, build roads, provide access to education, etc. exactly what the church did and does.

Today I was told “all the gold in the Vatikan, why is the pope not selling it and give it to the poor”. It is cultural heritage and not simply sth that can be liquidated into money. When Pope Francis died, he only had around 100 euros in his bank account.

1+ year ago, I wrote about Albania’s elections & how the opposition will never win no matter how bad Edi Rama is because of the walking corpse they have as a leader. Rama won, obviously, and now a year later, the opposition held party leadership ‘elections’. The registration period was between the 18th of March and today, but this was never announced and kept private between Berisha’s allies. Yesterday, they announced that there were 24 hours remaining. The people who signed up within the remaining 24 hours were just expelled from the party completely. Democracy is a farce in the Balkans.
