June 2013 — Manchester City appointed Manuel Pellegrini as manager. July 2013 — Atletico Madrid signed Martin Demichelis for free from Malaga. August 2013 — Vincent Kompany suffered a groin injury in a game against Newcastle and Man City needed cover. Matija Nastasic had also been injured and Pellegrini was forced to play Javi Garcia in defence with Joleon Lescott. August 2013 — Man City signed Demichelis from Atletico Madrid for £4.2m. He had played under Pellegrini at Malaga and River Plate. Atletico Madrid made a profit of £4.2m in one month. Why did Atletico allow Demichelis leave after a month? They’d signed Toby Alderweireld from Ajax. Man City won the Premier League that season. Pellegrini is still a manager, Demichelis and Kompany have become managers too. Seeing this video reminded me of that transfer. Life is beautiful. They’re all enjoying their lives.
