what i see in another affluent neighborhood ( 45 min away from SF) in the tri-valley: > enjoy HS, play sports, get mediocre grades > go to mediocre college or community college than transfer > mentored by parents or other models in the community on how to be successful without elite college degree > work starting as early as age 13 or 14 > get a non-tech job or start a business or or help run a business as upper management or takeover as new owner eventually. > make 200k - 1M+ (it may take longer than a tech person) Typical non-Asian successful person gets the same place with completely different route of work hard, study hard, go to good college, become an engineer, doctor, lawyer route. Many people don't know that many jobs including sales can be just as lucrative. non-wallstreet finance jobs available for those who hustle, network can be easily generate that $300K/income. and the most lucrative of them all - running a successful business (not tech).
