@ReedJanuary2 @sjohnson_00 3800 I believe but the new AD wants to sell more tickets so maybe that number changes next year. I didn’t realize Lawlor was 11k+.

Nevada got their biggest win of the year last Saturday. Sold out crowd. Now they get New Mexico in and it’s like 60% full? What happened to that fanbase? Does Alford need to take his shirt off to get them excited?

@Dallinrchase25 @HipD21 I guess I can appreciate you gassing up your school 😂. Definitely will miss playing USU every year, but we don’t see you any different than the other top schools in the conference. Just bring in a bigger crowd on Saturdays.

@HipD21 @sjohnson_00 How big is Utah State’s student section? We had 8K in attendance last night. So I’m wondering if the difference is the student section. Ours is only a small section behind the hoop.

@UNLVRebelGrl The calculation for direct state support for NSHE athletic departments is based on the tax revenue that its respective county gets as well as total enrollment?

Because the majority of State funding comes from Clark County and we have 12,000 more students at UNLV. Our enrollment is 33,700 & Reno's is 21,778. approximately.

@ByChrisMurray Thanks for posting all of the financial information from FY25. Any idea why UNLV gets more state funding than Nevada and is there anything the people of Northern Nevada can do to encourage the state to match what they are giving UNLV? Looks like UNLV received 8.4 to Nevada’s 5.79

Happy Sunday! Nevada men’s basketball secured its best win of the season last night and has another big test Tuesday against New Mexico. Another fun Olympics also have come to a close. I’ll take your Monday Mailbag questions now. Fire away!

@achristovichh @BakerMachado @FOS Let’s say they have an annual budget of 15M for FB, 5M for BB, and almost 4M a year for entrance fees. If they optimize what they have, maybe get 7M a year from tickets, merch, food, parking, guarantees, etc. University, state, and donations needs to come up with 17M for FB/BB

Sacramento State president Dr. Luke Wood just finished a video interview w/ @BakerMachado at @FOS. He called Sac State's move to FBS a "calculated business decision." This is a must-watch interview for anyone interested in understanding why Hornets made this move. Stay tuned!

Sacramento State will pay upwards of $23M to jump to the FBS, with $18M to the MAC over six years and $5M to the NCAA, plus covering travel costs for visiting MAC members and more. So how will the Hornets pay for it? President @DrLukeWood says football just regained the rights to merchandise, food and beverage, parking and more revenue sources. Sac State will also look to guarantee games to cover the costs, as Woods guaranteed no student fees or university general fund will cover these expenditures. The move on the gridiron also will shift all other sports to the Big West. With men's basketball looking to continue to grow under Head Coach Mike Bibby and GM Shaquille O'Neal, the program brought in more revenue during its first four home games at the new Hornet Pavilion than in the last three seasons combined. @TBM_JY How I am reading this: They will increase their athletics budget and got board approval by saying that new revenues from the deal will be paid back to the university. Revenues that will be crucial to sustain operations (food, nutrition, travel, recruiting) as well as rev sharing

@ByChrisMurray Yea definitely was rough early on, and some players out there that you say what if. The Soto trade was a brutal impulse move and it doesn’t feel strategic at times. However, an exciting group and a fun product. Looking forward to March 26 and go Sports.

@ReedJanuary2 I'm a sportswriter and tweeted something about sports. Padres aren't a threat as long as Preller is there trading future All-Stars for short-term fixes. He kicked off the Friedman era with the terrible Kemp-for-Grandal trade. Forever thankful Padres fans are duped by him.
