Today, we remember the life and legacy of Congressman Sylvester Turner. I still can’t believe it’s been one year since he passed away. I am honored to walk in his footsteps and carry forward his legacy in the district he so faithfully served in the Texas Legislature, HD 139. RIP!

HISD’s decision to close all 12 proposed campuses without properly consulting the community is a slap in the face. Last night, I joined the community in opposing these closures at the HISD’s Board meeting and highlighted how closing Burrus Elementary will devastate families.
