@krassenstein @MickamiousG A Republican can still win the electoral college with a Democrat up 1-4% or so nationally. Just due to the available paths and the makeup of demographics in the states they need to win. All Trump has to do is win 2020 states, plus Georgia and Pennsylvania, and that's 270.

@krassenstein @MickamiousG The difference is(and it's why Dems are so panicked) is that a Republican leading nationally makes winning the electoral college virtually impossible for a Democrat. Trump has also outperformed his polling in both 2016 and 2020, by significant margins. Just like Obama did.

BREAKING: CNN just reported that President Biden has become more “receptive” to the idea of stepping down from the ticket. He is reportedly asking, "Can Kamala Harris win?" Chuck Schumer apparently provided a detailed reasoning on why it would be best for the party and country should he step down. Thoughts?

@krassenstein The public has never been receptive to candidates change so far late in the game. Every open convention has resulted in a loss for the party that tried it. And I've also heard some reporting from politico Biden listened, but also told Schumer and Jefferies he's still staying in.

@yashar @jonkarl The only thing I can see pushing Biden out forcefully, is if Pelosi, Schumer, Jeffries and Obama all come out to a podium, together in unison, and ask for Joe Biden to step down for the good of the country. It has to be public, there's no surviving that.

@yashar @jonkarl Reports also indicate that Biden told both Schumer and Jefferies that he's still not dropping out, that he's the nominee and has every intention of running and winning in November. I also feel like, if we were truly at the breaking point, they would've done this publicly.

Trump may be polarizing as a candidate, but America can't stand chaos and the idea of backrooms deals picking a President.

@cenkuygur I agree this is way to go, Cenk! Biden denied us a Democratic primary. Let's at least have an amiable mini-primary open to all Dem leaders for a month, showcasing younger, stronger candidates. I trust the 4,000 Dem delegates to select the person most likely to beat Trump.

There’s some controversy about this because it’s unpleasant. But here’s the thing. We’re betraying our own powerless people if we don’t use the power we have to protect them by making the side that imposed these new rules feel the costs. We have tried reason. We have tried appeals to simple justice. They have failed. Now we need to apply punishment. They need to know there is a cost to this. If we fail to impose a cost on them for doing this because doing so is unpleasant, we have betrayed our own people and left them exposed. The left will not stop unless it has reason to. I am told Chuck Schumer had a blunt one-on-one conversation with Biden Saturday afternoon in Rehoboth. Schumer forcefully made the case that it would be best if Biden bowed out of the race. Schumer's office wouldn't comment on the specifics of the conversation, telling me only, “Leader Schumer conveyed the views of his caucus.”
