@PippengerHarlo YIMBYism is and will forever be less popular than socialist housing policy. When they say it's more "politically feasible" they just mean that they can buy elections.

@loomdoop Just depends what happens. We don’t generate much revenue from the transfer tax (<1% of the budget). If this boosts gross receipts and sales tax revenues thru increased population, it would be a net tax increase. The budget was screwed no matter what

@the_good_matty @uhshanti Prop I has been a failure, mostly due to the crash in real estate in SF. Last fiscal year, TOTAL transfer taxes were <$200M so Prop I isn’t even generating enough revenue to build 100 homes per year and our deficit is 10s of k. You have a math PhD, you know this

not only did Dean push groundbreaking tenant protections that YIMBY state electeds fought to defend, he commissioned policy research & new strategies to scale subsidized housing; ideas around which we’re building cross-factional consensus. these dolts just didn’t pay attention.

@CoachLenox6 @Tyler_The_Wise @Whatapityonyou Don’t reply to conversations on Twitter with unsupported opinions. It’s a waste of everyone’s time and makes you look dumb. Feel free to Tweet your opinions to your followers who might actually care!

You know, people watched children being executed in the streets and parents carrying bags full of their kid’s body parts while Democrats were trying to spread a message of hope and progress. You can’t get more dissonant than that.

@mateosfo @nathansnewman Well, we could also just be TX instead of CA and make people pay property taxes, some of which could be used to fund low-income housing vouchers. But this doesn’t “end landlords” so we make people wait and live on the street while folks “organize”

@nathansnewman Taxes on luxury housing would result in less luxury housing which would result in less taxes and also cause rich luxury home buyers to buy older, non-luxury homes and displace more lower income people. Just the wrong instincts on this, sorry.

I appreciate that the left is at least (sometimes) honest about its agenda. They don’t think it’s that we don’t have enough houses; it’s that the wrong people have them. The gap between “redistribute what we have” agenda and the “but there’s not enough to redistribute” agenda.
Nathan Proctor@nProctor

I sit at the intersection of organizing on the ground, and doing work on policy. There is a reason why people like me aren't all that enamored this "abundance agenda" thing, championed by Ezra, Matty churches, etc 1/

@CoachLenox6 @Tyler_The_Wise @Whatapityonyou STILL not getting it. Opinions are like assholes: everyone has one. If you don’t have any evidence to support your opinion, keep it to yourself. “Cardinals fans are dumb” is my opinion, I won’t be taking questions

@RivasAD @Tyler_The_Wise @Whatapityonyou You seem really upset that I stated my personal opinion for some reason, why is that so offensive to you? I wasn’t making a fact based assertion, simply my opinion based on my personal experience. I hope that’s clear enough.

@CoachLenox6 @Tyler_The_Wise @Whatapityonyou Why would I want to have a conversation with you? You have LITERALLY provided zero value. I am SURE you have friends that have lied about who they voted for, I am highly skeptical that they lied to an anonymous pollster about this

@RivasAD @Tyler_The_Wise @Whatapityonyou You seem hurt that I don’t want to have a conversation with you, don’t you have any loved ones to speak with? I think it’s great that you found a study from eight years ago, but I also know from my personal life that people absolutely do lie about voting. Argue with the wall.

@tjpain2 @jhan2qt @Sigdrifr @ThymeToBeBorn @Salovville The fact that you think it’s absurd that Big Pharma ignores lower margin/lower revenue drugs is evidence that you aren’t familiar with Big Pharma business practices. I AGREE that young men using steroids is a problem, but we need to look elsewhere besides Big Pharma to solve it

@RivasAD @jhan2qt @Sigdrifr @ThymeToBeBorn @Salovville U guys seem 2 b saying that pharma companies only make 1 drug at a time & forgo anything lower margin or gross. That’s absurd. & my working HYPOTHESIS is that there’s a problem. I think I could support it with any number of pieces of evidence and it wouldn’t matter to u jokers.

My kids' school is not the sporty school. But, their high school recently added a powerlifting club, and a bunch of nerd boys joined. So now there's a bunch of high academically achieving boys who are extremely jacked.

@CoachLenox6 @Tyler_The_Wise @Whatapityonyou Why would you REPLY to a thread with an unsupported opinion and not want to contribute to a discussion? Ok buddy, voters lie in polls. Let’s ignore all the research contradicting this based on the opinion of a random guy in STL

@RivasAD @jhan2qt @Sigdrifr @ThymeToBeBorn @Salovville That’s not big pharma buddy that’s 1 company run by some rando Chinese guy making and selling it illegally. On the legal market in the US big pharma companies can pull in that much per year or more per product. 2019 annual sales: TWi Testosterone Gel $520M Teva T Gel $911M

@tjpain2 @jhan2qt @Sigdrifr @ThymeToBeBorn @Salovville $280M/5 years is nothing to Big Pharma. You aren’t understanding the business realities here. LOTS of good reasons to oppose young men taking anabolic steroids off label. The idea that Big Pharma is pushing this is nonsense.

@jhan2qt @RivasAD @Sigdrifr @ThymeToBeBorn @Salovville Western pharma cos make them under patent too but ok let’s look at black market. $280 million in revenue for a Chinese supplier from ‘16-‘21. Yuancheng Group based in Wuhan, China. They supply fentanyl precursors too. 1/

@RivasAD @Sigdrifr @ThymeToBeBorn @Salovville $300/yr for 50 years until you die adds up, plus any experimental off label treatment you might try to reverse the damage, perhaps to try to recover spermatogenic capacity, which would cost that much at a minimum, up to $50k or more. It’s big business.

@Sigdrifr @ThymeToBeBorn @Salovville Yeah it’s all over the place young guys doing it for the aesthetics more than anything. Don’t realize it could wreck their ability to produce hormones naturally for the rest of their life. I’m sure big pharma couldn’t be happier.
