@fixieai Nice! I'm considering flying up from San Francisco. Will you be coming here next? Or would it be possible to join remotely?

@jamison_dance I only implicitly use it via redux. Otherwise I think it's better to pass props down in most cases. The docs have a good section about using it sparingly: #before-you-use-context" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">beta.reactjs.org/learn/passing-…

If you use context to manage state in React, how do you avoid it becoming a mess? Easily broken by moving components around the tree, spooky action at a distance, etc. Am I missing something?

The Streamer Awards

There’s no real way to describe a Jerma stream, in the sense that you never know what's in store when he goes live. From games, science experiments, dollhouse simulations and even finding his replacement, @jerma985 rightfully deserves #TheStreamerAwards League of their Own Award!

@droneblog Correction on this article - droneblog.com/san-francisco/ "Golden Gate Park, the National Park land surrounding the base of the Golden Gate Bridge" GGP is actually not the park touching GG Bridge, it's a separate stretch inland (I made the same mistake before moving here)

at some point did someone just remove a persons liver, killing them, and they were like "without it you die so that's the liver"?

No-code has been a big trend, and it might seem like it's a maturing market/landscape, but that couldn't be further from the truth. We're maybe at ~5% of the innovation we'll see in this space over the next few decades. It's where the internet was in ~1999. Just getting started!

@_chenglou @steveruizok Better yet, just start the dragging at the point it passes the dead zone, instead of using the mouse-down point

@steveruizok A typical problem with these is that now dragging seems to jank at the beginning due to the sudden catch up. I’d suggest adding a transition to it; ideally one that’s guaranteed to catch up gradually and not lag behind the cursor forever. E.g. an exponential curve

@Hicksyfern @steveruizok My old laptop touchpad did this and it was the most annoying thing ever, so it can definitely go wrong. Might still be a good idea though.

@steveruizok I guess ultimately the idea is that you separate the actual position from the eventual position. In fact, this might lead to a solution to the janky dead zone-escaping someone mentioned above: Always drag the thing, but put it back if you think it wasn’t intentional.

@CodingCatDev When designing user-facing no-code systems, how do you decide between low-level tools that are are very flexible and high-level that are solve specific problems?
