The government built a food pyramid on ideas about dietary fat popularized by Ancel Keys. Fat came out. Processed carbohydrates went in. From 1980 to 1997, Americans added roughly 500 daily calories — the majority from carbohydrates. The diet got “healthier.” The country got sicker.

Major crash in Colorado – Over 75 vehicles piled up yesterday on the eastbound I-70 near the Loveland Ski Area / Eisenhower Tunnel due to sudden heavy snow and whiteout conditions. At least 19 people were injured (no fatalities reported). The highway was shut down for hours while crews cleared the scene. Mountain weather can flip in minutes, slow down, give extra space, and stay safe out there!

NEW: Six House Republicans voted with Democrats today to advance Rep. Ayanna Pressley's (D-MA) HR965, which would provide Temporary Protected Status to Haitians in the US for 3 years. Motion passed 219-209. It will now go to a final House vote tomorrow. The six House GOP to vote with Democrats were: Rep. Don Bacon (R-NE) Rep. Maria Salazar (R-FL) Rep. Carlos Gimenez (R-FL) Rep. Brian Fitzpatrick (R-PA) Rep. Mike Lawler (R-NY) Rep. Nicole Malliotakis (R-NY) Rep. Kevin Kiley (I-CA), an independent who caucuses with Republicans, also voted with the Democrats.
