Do you track your submissions through an excel sheet? Word doc? Or just hoping submittable tracks it well enough for you?

@WriterSweeney @savranly Agree with all of this. A week seems about right, though sometimes I won't even wait that long to pitch somewhere else. Part of what I like about pitching--that it moves so much faster than say, submitting to literary magazines.

@savranly I follow up after a week if it's not timely, a day or so if it is timely. I would say I get most of my acceptances on follow ups. I'll usually pitch elsewhere a week after the follow up, although if I really really want the first one I'll follow up again before moving on.

Writers: If you're not hearing back from a magazine you've pitched an essay to, how long do you give them before you pitch somewhere else?

@savranly I think we've all surrendered to one-side-ism, or basically, the total death of the ability to think in complex and nuanced ways.

I am so weary. Why can't we hold both our right to protest genocide in Gaza AND our wish to support Jews and Muslims who feel unsafe in this very real climate of rising antisemitism and anti-Muslim rhetoric and violence? We are capable of both.

@savranly Increasingly, I think dental insurance is a racket, but increasingly, I think lots of things might be a racket.

Enough is enough @cbs @CBSSports with this Frames per second throttling. College basketball game horrible to watch. Bump it up to 60fps so people are watching, can see the game.
