Depends when you have visited Japan. When I last visited Japan the people I stayed with had toast and coffee for breakfast! The first time I visited Japan, the breakfast I had each day was - miso shiru, a little bowl of rice, and a small piece of fish. This is my favourite Japanese breakfast. 🤤 It amazing what change 2 decades make.

@hanaamurakami Finding out that so many Japanese people do a lot of 'free' overtime at the companies they work for. I said to one person, who was doing 2hrs of free overtime everyday "that doesn't seem fair". She simply replied "oh no it's fine, I'm Japanese".

@junhagemay I've used many a squat toilets in Japan. Admittedly in more Countryside places like Nagano. They are actually more healthy to use than western style toilets.

Have you ever tried turning leftover rice into sushi cups? Press the rice firmly into a greased muffin tin, shaping each one into a little cup with a well in the center. Bake at 400°F for 20 minutes, until the edges are golden and crispy. If your oven runs hot, start checking around 15 minutes. Let them cool so they hold their shape, then fill them with your favorite sushi toppings
