“Winter, summer, spring and fall. I’m always up against the wall. I don’t get no respect at all.”

“I’m not a kid anymore. I’m getting older now. I’m at the age now, to me, shooting up means the enema bag.”

“Bring a pitcher of beer every seven minutes till somebody passes out. And then bring one every ten minutes.”

“Everybody’s looking for love though, deep love. A lifetime of deep love. I’m looking for a shallow half hour.”

“And my wife, she can’t cook either. You kidding? She made leg of lamb. I couldn’t get past the wool.”

“Are you kidding, I know I’m ugly. I asked the bartender to make me a zombie. Told me God beat him to it.”

“My dog, that’s another one. He keeps barking at the front door. He don’t want to go out, he wants me to leave.”

“I’m getting old, it’s hard to face. During sex I lose my place.”

“My wife can’t cook at all. Last night she made chicken, I got the wishbone. And if it works, that was her last chicken.”

Love was in the air on Valentine’s Day in 2003. As a Valentine’s gift for his wife Joan, Rodney had a hot tub airlifted and delivered to their 21st story penthouse.

“Things are going really good for me. I just finished my first book. Now I'm gonna read another one.”

“I tell ya, my neighborhood was tough... I was in a restaurant—on the menu they had broken leg of lamb.”

Story from Tommy Edwards: “I was going through some old photos and this one brought back memories. Rodney Dangerfield was in one of our TV commercials promoting Larry Lujack. Needless to say, there were a number of one-liners going back and forth during the making of the commercial. Several were X-Rated! Before the shoot, he stopped by the studio and I had the chance to interview him. I was a huge fan and he gave me one of his "No Respect" red ties. It's currently up on the wall in my office.”

Rodney won the Grammy for Best Comedy Recording in 1981. He also presented the award for Best Female Pop Vocal Performance, and had his fellow presenter laughing hysterically.

“Terrible neighborhood. The first day I moved in, I asked a cop, ‘How long a walk to the subway?’ He said, ‘I don’t know, so far no one ever made it.’”
