The math on William Shatner’s existence is hard to process. He was born closer to the Civil War than to today. Montreal, 1931. His father manufactured clothes. His first acting role came in 1951, the same year color TV was introduced to the American public. Star Trek premiered in 1966. It lasted 3 seasons and got cancelled. The first rerun aired before humans had walked on the Moon. Those reruns are still generating licensing revenue 57 years later. He’s been famous for 60 consecutive years. He survived being typecast so severely in the 1970s that he did convention appearances for grocery money. He survived his third wife’s death. He survived Hollywood writing him off as a joke. Then he weaponized the joke. Priceline commercials. The roast. Spoken-word albums where he recites Elton John lyrics as dramatic monologue. Every project that should have ended his career somehow added to it. At 73, back-to-back Emmys for Boston Legal. At 90, oldest person to fly to space. At 94, a Super Bowl ad. At 95, 4.3 million people watching him smoke a cigar on X. His career has now outlasted the Soviet Union, the Space Shuttle program, Blockbuster Video, MySpace, and the first three generations of AI models. He’s been working since Truman and he’s posting through the Claude era. The compounding is the point. 75 years of showing up created a distribution moat that no amount of talent alone could replicate.

At 95, I'm still smokin'! 😝 I’ve learned two things: Never waste a good cigar. Never trust anyone who says you should ‘act your age.’ 😉👍🏻

Here we go, you absolute gems of humanity. Four Hatzola ambulances, you know, the ones that rush out in the middle of the night to save literally anyone who dials 999, Jew, Christian, Muslim, atheist, pastafarian, whatever, have been deliberately torched in Golders Green. Proper community service, that. Nothing says “tolerant progressive values” quite like setting fire to emergency medical vehicles. But wait, it gets better. Rather than, say, condemning the arsonists, a charming chorus of internet moralists has instead decided the real scandal is that Jews dared to fund and staff their own volunteer ambulance service in the first place. How very dare we. The sheer audacity of a group of people putting their hands in their own pockets to buy defibrillators and oxygen and then using them to treat… checks notes… everyone. Disgraceful. Someone fetch the smelling salts. Meanwhile St John Ambulance, a Christian-founded charity, staffed largely by volunteers, funded predominantly (though not exclusively) through Christian networks and donations, continues to roll along unmolested. No one is on X screaming that it is an outrageous sectarian stitch-up or demanding it be shut down for the crime of existing while wearing a cross on the badge. Funny, that. Almost as if the objection isn’t really about “separate ambulance services” at all. And of course we mustn’t forget the pièce de résistance: the solemn declarations that the whole thing was obviously a “false flag”. Honestly, I must question your credibility, insisting that Jews burned their own ambulances in order to… what, exactly? Trick people into thinking antisemitism exists? Collect the insurance on four rather old vehicles? Stage a photo opportunity with charred tyres? The masterplan is truly diabolical in its simplicity. So here we are. Ambulances that serve the whole community are reduced to blackened husks. The people who staff them, for free, in their spare time, are told they shouldn’t exist. And the people doing the telling are somehow still convinced they occupy the moral high ground. If that isn’t peak 2026 discourse, I don’t know what is.

As Nicola Sturgeon delivers her final speech in the Scottish Parliament, I reflect on an overhyped political celebrity who, despite eight years as first minister, achieved nothing transformative and very little of note. Me in the @DailyMail. dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1…

I’m a pharmacy tech. Chain store. We have a policy. No prescription, no medication. Period. Man came in. Late fifties. Asked for insulin. “I ran out. My prescription’s expired. Doctor’s appointment isn’t until next week.” Checked his records. Type 1 diabetic. Last fill was on time. He wasn’t scamming. “I can’t give it to you without a prescription. Policy.” He nodded. Started to leave. Knew what would happen. Diabetic emergency. Hospital. Maybe worse. Called his doctor’s office. Closed. Left a message marked urgent. Called the pharmacist over. Explained. She looked at the man. Looked at me. “We can do a three-day emergency supply. I’ll authorize it.” Gave him three days of insulin. He tried to pay. She refused. “Get your prescription filled next week. This one’s on us.” He left crying. Thank you over and over. Came back the next week. Prescription filled. Brought us flowers. “You saved my life. I would’ve ended up in the ER. Or dead. For following policy.” That pharmacist got written up. Corporate found out. Medication given without valid prescription. She didn’t care. “Write me up every time,” she told the district manager. “I’ll break policy every time to save a life.” She still works there. Still breaks policy. For people who need insulin. Inhalers. Heart medication. Three-day supplies. Emergencies. Corporate stopped writing her up. Decided it was easier to look away. Because sometimes policy kills. And sometimes breaking rules saves lives. —Andrea, pharmacy tech

A probe into whether Angela Constance broke the ministerial code has been branded a ‘classic SNP whitewash’ after John Swinney’s advisers failed to even interview her.

Scotland’s high energy bills aren’t caused by “Westminster control”. They’re driven by global wholesale prices, private ownership of generation, and the cost of transmitting power across a UK‑wide grid. Geography doesn’t set bills; international markets do. 1/3
John Swinney@JohnSwinney

With independence, we can lower your energy bills, rejoin the EU and build a fairer society. That future is ours to win. On May 7, vote for it - make it #BothVotesSNP.

The balaclava originated during the Crimean War, named after the Ukrainian town of Balaklava. British troops wore hand-knitted wool headgear to protect against freezing temperatures. The irony of Kneecap unwittingly adopting English military headdress is fantastic.
