Following deep inspections this week, engineers reportedly discovered “severe and irreversible structural fatigue” within the elevated concrete supports. Because of this, what was supposed to be a temporary headache has now been turned into a massive, multi-year infrastructure project. The new estimated completion date? April 2031. That is a full five more years of bottlenecked lanes, diverted traffic, and absolute gridlock from Wood Lane all the way back to Hanger Lane and beyond. A supposed TfL spokesperson stated this morning: “We understand the immense frustration this will cause West London residents, but we cannot ignore these deep structural faults.
