My colleague told me something today at work that got me seriously thinking. About two months ago, he lost his phone while coming to work in a keke. Unknown to him, whoever stole the phone used it to access a loan app and borrowed 400k with about 250k interest attached. Luckily for him, he realized on time that his phone was missing and quickly took action. By the time the money was disbursed, he had already secured his phone and regained control, when the money dropped. He immediately reported the case and even got a police extract, explaining clearly that he didn’t initiate the loan. That they should take the 400k since it wasn't up to 4 hours and clear up the loan history. But the response he got left me wondering. They told him, “Business is business.” That they were not aware his phone was stolen and that, as far as they’re concerned, he agreed to the terms. Honestly, situations like this make you wonder, how safe are we really in this digital age?
